Title: New stable mate! Honda MSX125...
Post by: SirToU on January 14, 2014, 08:05:09 PM
I know this is a bit off topic, but I seriously thinking of buying a new Monkey bike.... The MSX125... As a stable mate for the GTR and Z750R...

Just a little bit of fun.....

:-)

ps.  I know it's not a Kawasaki, but Kawasaki don't import a suitable 125!

My son had a cagiva mito 125 little screamer, we de-restricted it and the little bugger did 120mph laid on the tank, but most of all it was awesome fun just to thrash arround, i have been thinking of buying one for track days and the odd blast with the boys.

AHH!!!! the smell of castrol R.

The MSX125..
Just a little bit of fun.....
Taste is a personal thing but,...... (http://zggtr.org/Smileys/default/doublepuke.gif)

I can understand a Mito or an Aprilia RS125 as they are pretty and a hoot, or a SuperMoto-ed MX125 from any manufacturer,.....
but that MSX125 is just strangle it at birth ugly/mutant/wrong.
Whoever designed (???!!!) that is either blind or else worked for British Leyland in the 70s.

I wouldn't go down the ugly route, as I think that's a little harsh!

Mito would be fantastic, but doesn't really do anything that I cant do on the Z'd and the aprila is just as bad. they are also not Japanese and these days, I don't think there is a manufacturer than can beat the Japs.

BMW - who you kidding?  Where are BMW's in WSB, BSB etc,  KTM is about the only manufacturer that I would touch outside Japan.  (although Triumph or Enfield with the right bike or appropriate use).

However, saying that, if you can turn a Mito for 120mph, what's the chances of tuning the 125 single in the MSX?

Not a prayer of tuning the MSX, other than sticking a mini jet engine to it  :mfr_lol: actually there was no tuning as such to the mito, just re-jet, change the air box intake rubbers, change the rear sprocket, and cut of the exhaust pigtail and weld the hole up, or put on an Arrow Exhaust. They actually do a 172cc kit and that will do 130mph but its unreliable.

At the moment the Japs only make boring 125s no character, no excitement.

Charlie747   --  I had  cagiva - aprilia franchise's among others, but of the mito and RS, the mito was by far the better, not to mention the  RS needed rebuilding every 8k, but unfortunately 3 cross could never keep up with demand. i used to have a 'v' Raptor as my toy then --Nutter Bike.
