I didn't want to corrupt the recent autocom thread with this so started a new one.
I've just sold my Autocom Super Pro Kit SP-A. I want a good rider to pillion comms system that's wireless and helmet based only.
If I replace the Zumo I'm selling then it needs to pick that up as well via BT.
Oh yes the helmets are Shoei multiteks.
Whilst it's winter I'm sorting out bike stuff before the season starts again.
Any ideas, I was all knowing on Autocom stuff but the wireless stuff is a minefield.
I would have a word with Rusty, since he jumped ship and went all BMW on us he's invested in the BMW lid with BMW Bluetooth system installed and he swears by it. The system is specifically designed for their helmet but would fit other helmets, its very discreet and by all accounts the quality is excellent. It links to the sat nav and phone etc, could be worth a look at.
I've moved from Starcom Digital to this, it performs superbly and is sooooooo easy to fit and operate, I use mine with a full face Arai Tour X4, and a Schuberth C3 fitted with boom mic

This explains its usage

I've mainly had Cardo systems in the past, but recently moved to a Sena SMH10R from a Cardo G4.
I mostly use the devices for listening to music whilst occasionally listening to Sat Nav. I use an Android device which does both, so haven't had any experience of connecting multiple devices.
My old Cardo Q2 was paired with a pillion and listened to Sat Nav via a TomTom using it's FM broadcast option. It worked, but the FM broadcast got swamped with local FM radio. Bluetooth is the way to go.
Functionally I find that both the Cardo and Sena systems are on-par.
Some points I can compare:
1) The SMR10H profile is slim, which is the reason I bought it. I no longer feel like I'm some 'Borg' wannabe with a huge device sticking out of my left ear.
2) The Cardo's all had Automatic Volume Adjustment, i.e rev the engine and the volume gets louder to compensate. This is a very useful thing to have and I couldn't believe the Sena didn't have it - I wouldn't have bought the Sena if I had known this beforehand  I assumed it was standard as even my crappy car radio has this! :hammer: I now have to suffer loud music/navigation when at a standstill.
3) Music on the Sena cuts out intermittently when I go indoors with the bike outside. The Cardo G4 didn't have this problem. This may indicate a better broadcast range with the Cardo in general.
4) The Sena has an easier interface with slightly better buttons. However, there are still some problems such as stopping music requires pressing the middle button which is hard to find. Switching off/on required two button presses which is hard to do - I suspect people following think I'm giving them a 'shoot you in the head' gesture which is why they back off :innocent: Sena's middle button is used for answering calls too, so this may be a problem.
5) Charging both devices uses a micro USB. Cardo supply a charger, Sena don't, though it's a ubiquitous charger, so you may already have one (Kindle, Android, etc.)
6) Cardo detaches to charge, Sena doesn't so you have to stick your helmet next to the plug to charge.
Other things?
There are a few people complaining that the Sena volume is too low. Can't say I have had an issue with it. Have a look a the feature request site for a list of issues, though check the dates on them as some are old -> http://support.senabluetooth.com/forums/20210588-feature-requests#popular
Sena have announced that they will (no time given) support Bluetooth comms to all major competitors. So if you ride in a group with mixed intercom users, then you should be able to talk to them.
In summary, for aesthetics, Sena SMH10R wins, but the omission of Automatic Volume Adjustment is such an oversight on the Sena that I would struggle to recommend it, especially when the Cardo's do everything else the Sena can.

:agree: Got ours on a BOGOF deal when we bought the bike, so couldn't refuse really. Haven't looked back since.......
Thanks for the tip. All I'd heard of previous was scala. It's a bit late to get my letter off to Santa.
By the way as I'm selling the Zumo 550 I've got the mount for sale.
I'm listing it seperately.
Cheers all
