Hi all:
Anyone going to Normandy next June for the 70th commemorations?
Hoping to be going for the week 31 May - 7 June.

I intend to be there with the BMW Club (but on the GTR), joining their gathering (around thirty bikes) and staying in a mobile home (the club have made special arrangements with the site in respect of rates and given us an area of our own to occupy).
Will be arriving on the Tuesday (3rd June) after visiting the Coupe De Moto Legende at Dijon for the weekend.
Nice. Don't know whether I'll be on my GTR or my GS yet. It'll probably be the GTR as it's still new (to me at least) and I haven't taken it anywhere yet. I've just booked a sweet little cottage in La Bazoque (20km from Bayeux):

If it's anything like 2004, it should be a great week... I took some mates over as a war studies graduation tour back in 2008 in a mini-bus but I'll be returning solo on the bike this time and I'm really looking forward to it. I passed through last year on my way to Mongolia but didn't stop as the weather was shite but started my trip from Pegasus Bridge and ended 3 months later in Arnhem. Happy Dayz!
Whereabouts are you staying? I'll keep my eyes peeled for the BMW club.

It's called "Camping la Cote de Nacre" at Saint - Aubin - sur - Mare". I'll send you my mobile number if you want, perhaps we can meet in France? We have a couple of historians in the Club who will be organising visits locally etc; no doubt you would be welcome if you wanted to come along.
Yeah, sounds great. PM me your number. I'm bit of an historian myself. BA(Hons) in War Studies and an MA in WW2 Military History. Wrote my Undergrad dissertation on the British 6th AB at Pegasus Bridge and my postgrad thesis on the 1st AB at Arnhem. It's always fun to get another persons perspective on a subject. See you there.
Funnily enough I happened to come across the UKGSer thread for the Normandy trip/meet-up this morning.
