Hi all,
Just joined up and looking advice on tyres.
Just bought a 1400 GTR. It came with Bridgestone Batlax 023r on rear, but has a 021 on the front. Both tyres are in good condition.
Should I change the front to a 023 as per the rear? Or switch both to Michelin Pilot Road 3?
When i had mine with the originals on i waited until one of them wore out and changed them both to PR3's, why waste good tread when its there, i suspect the rear might wear first and when its down the level you don't like as i say change them both.
Alan
PR4s are due soon , maybe already available
Will having 023 on rear and 021 on front affect the bikes handling??
It didn't on mine, or so I thought, until i changed both to 023s, then got even better, and then got hugely better with PR3s
That settles it then. PR3s it is :-)
Welcome James ... there has been plenty of debate on this subject and 90% go for PR3's .. although we hear that the 4's are coming out VERY soon.
Pirelli Angels and GT3's are also on the recommended list ...
James even if you change the tyres immediately just stick the current one on eBay, they will no doubt sell. PR3's are definitely the most favoured tyres on here, they simply transform the bike.
Good advice lads. Cheers
Just remember that the PR in PR3's stand for puncture regularly!

James, before you commit yourself to those nail and screw cushions know as PR3s, could I suggest that you take a look at an infinitely better tyre, Avon Storm XM 3D ,
I've heard so many good things about the PR3s. But this is the thing with asking advice.
You get so many differing opinions it's difficult to know what to do.
On top of all that the PR4s are out in January so that just adds to the confusion :-)!!!

I would certainly wait until you have worn your present tyres out, before you spent lots of money on replacements.

But that just seems pointless, when he could just leave them on and use them up.
Geoff, I ebayed my Dunlop Roadsmarts off the new GTR, a guy even travelled down from Kirkcudbrightshire in Scotland to pick them up.
It's worth doing, I got a good price for them which went towards the far superior Michelin tyre.

The man from Scotland must have thought they were good then?, and he was right. To me it is just madness taking perfectly good tyres off when there is nowt wrong with them. And as I have said many times before on here, I dispute that PR3s are a better tyre anyway.

It makes you wonder then why so many people rave on about them, even people who have purchased them initially with some trepidation.

Yep, for the kind of motorcycling that you do they are fine, and you love em. For the kind of motorcycling that I do, I found them to be utter :shit: and easily the worst of the three makes that I used on the GTR. opinions opinions  .
