Title: Removing/Lifting the Fuel Tank
Post by: Stephen.Stallebrass on November 17, 2013, 11:59:10 AM
To remove the fuel tank the manual says I must first

Remove Front Fuel Tank Cover
Remove the inner cover
Remove the left and right middle fairings

I don't need to remove it completely I just prop it up in order to route some wires and place my alarm's 'brain & horn' underneath the tank inside of the rear fender as Fred Harmon has done in his Alarm Installation Guide (http://www.pbase.com/fredharmon/internatrix). Like this:

I know there is a grommet on the fairing which goes into a tabbed hole on the tank like this:

My question is:

Can I disengage the grommet and lift the tank without removing all the fairing ?

Following Fred Harmon's Tank Removal Guide (http://www.pbase.com/fredharmon/c14tank) he seems to have removed the tank without removing the fairing... just wanted to check if this can be done before I start.

Thanks
