Title: Heavier bar ends
Post by: KENNETH0405 on October 25, 2013, 04:46:24 PM
Just been scouring the net and found this site
http://www.hvmp.com/Kawasaki-Bar-Ends-p/kawasaki-bar-ends.htm
they seem heavier than the stock ones which weigh 9oz approx (I've just weighed one)
is there anywhere in the uk that do similar I know rg do a set but not sure of their weght
Our friends over the pond seem to think that this helps with the "buzzing"
Is anyone using the hvmp ones and if so do they help
or other recommended bar ends please  :devil2: :devil2: :devil2: :devil2:

My 08 model was smooth as butter. No buzzing whatsover.

The '11 model had buzzing with I noticed on my first run. I've done a few things that have significantly reduced the buzzing: reseating the front wheel with the pinch bolts, replaced the front and rear bearings, greased the splines (doubt that was the cause though) and some general re-torquing. On my to do list is the re-torquing of the header bolts and engine mounts. However, they are low on my list as the buzzing has significantly reduced.

The only reason I want new bar ends is because the black has come off. Those hvmp look good.

Asif

So what's the procedure re putting the front wheel back in? I torqued up the main axle spindle then the pinch bolts, correct or wrong?

Torque the main axle, but leave pinch bolts loose
Get on the bike and bounce the front end up i.e. compress the forks good and proper
Select a fork , torque the inner pinch bolt, followed by the outer pinch bolt. And then torque the inner one again, and then the outer one. You only need to do this until the torque wrench clicks immediately for both bolts. You'll notice on the second round of torqueing that the bolts are tightened a little more. Normally by the third round of torquing they are at the correct specification.
Repeat for the other side.

I managed to tighten my header bolts with the fairing on, using the correct rachet ring spanner you can get in there from both sides and get a good 1/2 turn on ALL the nuts, its fiddly and your hand will be contorted but its possible, I don't have small hand . average to large , im told
