Title: Givi E55 Maxia 3 Tech + Phil's Farkel + SW Motech Monokey Kit
Post by: Stephen.Stallebrass on October 15, 2013, 06:04:58 PM
Fitted the above today. I was a bit concerned the E55 would be too big but I actually think it's in pretty decent proportions with the bike, at least with the panniers on. Phils Farkel (farkle) is brilliant, I don't know why anyone would fit a new rack and then fit an ugly difficult to fit Givi adaptor plate. This looks OEM too if your into that.

Looks a decent size, is that the same as or significantly larger than the standard Kawasaki 47ltr top box?

It's a 55L case so only 8L bigger. I had a 45L monokey topbox on a bandit I had a while back and it was pretty solid. I also heard the kawasaki 47L was monolock and not quite as good so decided to go again with the monokey. This was the best looking one IMO, I'd have been satidfied with a 47L but I didn't like the designs of the smaller givi monokey cases.

Its the KTRC badge (traction control)

My old bandit Delilah (http://s1259.photobucket.com/user/AdventureVagabond/slideshow/Delilah) (before I got 'Hitch' my GS & then 'Tessie' my GTR).

I am using the same top box on my bike but found it projected too far forward and prevented my wife from sitting 'right' on the bike. I replaced one of those Chinese knock- off top boxes, which worked fine and was placed well on the bike with the -55 and ran into that problem. So I designed and had a custom mounting plate made for the bike and that specific topbox. It moves the box 2" to the rear but also has ears in the front that mount in a third set of holes in the mounting arms. I had to drill new holes in the hand lifting rails but it does make for a very rigid and strong setup.

This is the plate being fitted:
