Title: Motorbike Alarm: Spy 5000m
Post by: Stephen.Stallebrass on October 13, 2013, 02:18:24 PM
Hi all:

Anyone fitted the Spy 5000m?

Fred Harmon has fitted the TW-1000 from Inter Natrix (http://"http://www.pbase.com/fredharmon/internatrix"), which looks to be the same as the Spy 5000m (I think it's also known as the Voyager 5000m).

Seen them on Ebay at a decent price... they generally have good reviews, supposedly easy to fit (albeit an allegedly sketchy wiring diagram).

Thanks in advance.

Here's an idea to consider that many would never think of.
Buy a cheap iPhone, conceal it good and proper on the bike and have it permanently wired to the bike. Ensure that the function, Find My Iphone is activated and bobs your uncle you have just acquired what will probably be the cheapest tracker device known to mankind.

So simple it's frightening.  :mfr_lol:

I've been saying this for a while now. I've urged my employers to put cheap GPS phones in HGV trailers as a tracking device but nobody has taken the idea on board. I'm sure it can't be difficult to wire up a charger to keep the phones active. Same for cars/bikes etc.

Mark, totally agree. The simplest solution surely would be to wire it up to the power supply that feeds your tail lights on a trailer. In all honesty if you don't find the trailer within 24 hrs it's probably long gone anyway.  Professional thieves will search such items, (trailers) for some form of tracking devices at their utmost earliest opportunity so timing is always a priority to get it reported and tracked.

The iPhone system is so simple it's frightening.

Criminals using containers that are used to import contraband are now being fitted with a cheap sender device which is attached to the rear doors, so that if customs open the doors a signal is sent notifying those awaiting the arrival of said container to do a runner

And I don't see why a simple  but effective laser type sensor throwing a criss cross of beams down the inside/outside of a curtain sider trailer couldn't be used to inform of any attempted break in
