Has gone into administration following endless complaints about noise from local residents   ..tossers
Well I for one am bloody outraged, my guess is that most of the complainers weren't even residents in 1956 when the circuit was initiated...its a great loss, and so typical of some of today's society :censored: :censored: :gun_bandana: :gunsmilie:
'kin typical of today's society.
If you don't like the noise - don't buy the house next to the Race Circuit/Airport/Sports Arena/Music Venue/Brothel...
Much as I love Mallory Park, and feel sad that this has happened, I have read a bit that paints a different picture.
I understand that Mallory was given permission to hold 85 events a year in 1985, extending its previous approval from 26 days. However, Mallory has been running more like 250 days for many years now, and it is this flouting of the law and increase in noise that has so upset the residents.
I would expect that these 250 days were needed to actually return any sort of profit from a large, expensive piece of land.
As others have said before though, nobody really wins out of this (except the landowner, possibly). The land will be sold for houses, and the residents pretty little village of Kirkby Mallory will become a small town.
I feel for all involved, and until someone invents a workable way of sound-proofing a race track, I cannot see a solution.
Living a few miles from Castle Combe, which suffers the same problems, I can imagine more will follow.
Martin.
A similar situation has already happened at Croft Circuit...its the principle that p*sses me off :hammer:
I think the main issue with Mallory is the proximity of the village to the track, like right next door.....but I'm firmly in the 'if you don't like it move' camp..... Mallory is about 3 miles as the crow flies from my place, and I can hear when they've got a day on .......
Really a shame.
Well it's not that bad here although it does make a right din from time to time..... Anyway, they're hardly likely to shut down the Autodromo di Monza with all the money it makes
Shame. I used to go to Mallory Park to see the sidecars back in the day :) that was properly exciting
