Title: Mmmmmm....
Post by: Gtrtim on September 14, 2013, 07:20:29 AM
Hi, I recently went for a run with a couple of hundred mile run with swmbo on the back, it was a really hot day...Yes that day......🌞🌞🌞 so we took a change of cloths shorts etc so we could go on a walk about,   But......when we got to our destination some D...khead had forgot to realize that we would have to put ALL our bike gear in the boxes etc, now we just about did it (had to leave my boots under the bike) but it suddenly downed on me "there's no helmet hooks on the bike", if there was i could have saved a lot of space taken up in the boxes by the helmets....

I'm I right......? Is there NO helmet hooks on board..? I know now.........but I'll have to get a couple of cable locks for next time...😩😩😩😩😩😩

Hi

There is a system underneath the seat which involves a hook and a length of wire to secure a helmet to the bike but you are probably better off with a couple of locks

what you need is a helmet guardian Twisted throttle does one which bolts to the underside of your topbox rack, I have had one for years and they work very well

Alternatively a cable lock would do the job, relatively cheap and easy to transport

Firstly your right - and it's been a pain in the a*** since 2008!

Never really found an alternative method.....  :-(

Although on the previous forum, someone had aftermarket helmet locks the you could install behind the number plate.

Kawasaki: if your watching. We need helmet locks and foldable hooks - like on ZZR1441, for when you have Items (like tents) that don't fit in he panniers or top boxes, or when your panniers are full of touring gear!

Same as others, I always carry a couple of cheap cable locks in my top box, you can even get them free with the bike mags sometimes.

Believe it or not I have not only used them for locking helmets to the bike, but also my jacket, if it's a nice length you can slip the cable through the arm of the jacket and lock it up with the helmet, obviously it's not something I would do if I was leaving the bike somewhere all day, but as a short term measure in a relatively safe location, I've never even had my stuff disturbed, so far.

I picked one of these up on fleabay, came new with certain Ducati's apparently, but should be fairly easy to copy.
Very compact, I keep it in the fairing stowage box, or in a pocket.
It's a poor picture, but basically about 18 inches of 2mm steel hawser cable, with two eye splices.

I've got these on mine, excellent bit of kit. Were there when I bought it, so didn't realise they weren't original equipment, gotta be honest, not having them is a bit poor on a £13k+ bike
