Title: Pressure in tank?
Post by: wheelspanner on April 08, 2011, 03:10:05 PM
Just been for a spin in the glorious sunshine.  On parking up could hear the Loud sound of air hissing from the tank.  Not sure if it was pressurised or the pump pulling a vacuum.  Equalised by opening fuel cap.  Anyone seen this?

Had you just filled her up?? prior to your ride? i believe this is possible when the tank is overfull and hot sun on the tank causes the fluid to expand a little...cleverer people than me we be along in a minute i'm sure (and i could well be wrong)..but thats my two penneth

Had it on mine.  Even when empty still get a little build up.

The ST13's at work used to boil their petrol in summer - quite disconcerting hearing/feeling a kettle bubbling between your legs!

I regualry top the petrol to the top. And I mean the top. You could probably squeeze a few more drops before the cap touches. I burn about a gallon off in the next hour.  I think Im OK as I'm burning it off at approx the same rate its expanding (I hope)

The low fuel warning was up.  Hoping it's just normal due to the heat.

Don't think it's anything to worry about......have you ever opened your filler cap on the car and heard a hiss of air rushing in....same kind of thing ;D
