Title: just a quick question on Beowulf Exhaust fitting
Post by: fatharry on April 08, 2011, 02:50:47 PM
Calling all beowulf exhaust owners.....i have fitted my new stubby this afternoon (in the car park at work!!), the link pipe that slides over the cat doesn't seem to go all the way down to the stop..it seems to finish about 5mm short of where the previous pipe went to?.....the clip is tightened up and i can't feel any exhaust escaping?.........my question is this

A) is this the same on your link pipe??
B) if not, can you see it causing any problems ???

sorry for asking just wanted to be certain, as i'm having brain fade this avo (must be the sun)

Provided there's no gas escaping - no problem

Is that with the gasget removed?

My Remus doesn't go all the way either

EDIT: just had a look. Mine is more than 5mm off with no gas escaping.

hi there
i fitted thew beowulf can and link pipe after hours of searching the web for a can within my budget best thing i did sounds great also mine does not fitt all the way in as you have suggested the only thing i had to do was to get the centre stand stop in the right place so it hit the rubber stopper and not metal on metal you know what i mean

i have noticed that the strap on the can just rubs against the split pin in the rear wheel bolt.......i have mounted the angled bracket on the inside of the carrier/peg as per original exhast...am i a little worried about this, i will look tonight to see if it is possible to move the bracket to the outside of the carrier, but not sure whether there is enough play in link pipe to do this

I wish beowulf would include some fitting instructions, would make it easier than the trial and error approach :P

Ok, cracked it, loosed the link pipe, and rotated the can, and the pipe individually, did check about mounting the other side of the hanger but there wasn't enough play in the pipe......still think I need the push the link pipe down over the cat a bit more as the arm on the link pipe doesn't make particulary good good contact with opposing arm on the centre stand.....right then need a big piece of wood and a hammer ;D

OMG. A different can?! Fantastic. How about a photo?  Just got my GTR and have been too busy riding it but would really like a different can. Don't fancy the  big piece of wood and a hammer option tho........
