Anyone had it done from Guhl motors in the states? Is it worth doing?
I would like to know as well.
Alan
But your bike should be fast already Alan. It is the fastest colour ...
It is and I agree, but I want it to be smooth and cool as well.
Alan
I'm going to drop them an email and find out the costs
Digging up this old thread, as riding seasons back on. I getting a bit fed up with the lump low throttle responce on mine, could do with it ironing out. Atm im using ECO mode (which raises the revs??) to improve low throttle responce.
So what the options for mapping?
I used Dynatronics a couple of years ago but they appear to have disappeared. There's a thread on USA forum http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=15297.msg203448#msg203448
Forget the guhl reflashed, get your bike down to Hilltop motorcycles in Leicester and get Geoff to spend an hour on his Dyno, my bike is now simply awesome, smooooooth and silky throttle response, heaps more BHP and torque.
Ok it was £350 but worth every prenny.
Alan
When did you have that done? I emailed and asked for a price last year, still waiting for the reply :whistling:
I take it i can ride down and have it done while i wait.

Had it done last December, give Geoff a ring as his email skills don't match his Dyno skills.

He never replied to me either, did be custom remap ECU?
He simply ran it on the Dyno four times and remapped my own ECU.
I for one am impressed with the results.
Alan
Have you got a final dyno graph that you can post? I'd be interested in seeing the results on paper, please

I have at work and when I get there in the morning will post it here, copied below is what I wrote here when I got back from Geoff.

Ok so back from Hilltop Motorcycles after my re-map, so before any work was done my bike produced 126.14bhp at 8628 rpm with 87.33ft/lb at 6002 rpm.
After it's 151.48bhp at 8884rpm with 101ft/lb at 6183rpm..
It was running lean all up the rev range as well, now after Geoff has done his work I can honestly say it runs so much smoother right from pulling away, when going through the gears and *cough* at the higher end of the speed range! it has removed loads of vibrations I was having and feels like a different bike.
Ok at £360 for a couple of hours work you might say that's expensive but it has transformed the bike from one I was beginning not to like to one I am not selling.
If in doubt, do it.
Alan
Sounds interesting. I assume it cures the sudden "on switch" when coming off the over-run?
Couple of questions:
1. With the stock ECU being remapped is there any chance your local dealer can accidently undo the good work?
2. As it is still essentially stock, does it count as an insurance modification?
I reckon your engine was pretty sick before they started on it. My bike is stock apart from a Beowulf can and a dyno run showed 148 at the wheel. They were disappointed not to see 150+ because they couldn't blow enough air at it for the Ram-Air to fully kick in. Seems your guys managed to get the ECU back to where it should have been in the first place!
I still have a bit of that on/off switch as described above, though and I wouldn't mind having that removed
the on/off throttle from zero ? Take ALL the slack out of the throttle cables.
Will have to check but I don't think there's any slack.
Here's the sort of situation where it shows up. Approaching a RAB, throttle off, rolling in letting the engine slow you while checking its clear, good to go, open throttle (no matter how gently) and there's a noticable kick/jerk as the motor comes back on. Now I know my car (Honda Civc) does it because it's crappy fly by wire AND the ECU cuts the fuel completely on the over run. Tickle the pedal, and bang, neck snap as the engine re-ignites. Drive it like you stole it with VTEC kicking in everywhere and all is hunky dory, try and apply some finesse and ... well  The GTR's not that bad and maybe a few more miles will sort me out (coming from a Pan which has a very soft/forgiving delivery).
I've heard that the Throttle Tamer helps as does fitting a Power Commander. Haven't tried either but taking out all the throttle slack does help.

:agree:
This is the before and after on my bike with regards to mapping the ECU at Hilltop Motorcycles. Its now as smooth as a baby's arse.

This is mine.. You can see that the A/F ratio is pretty much spot on until the last when it richens up considerably and the power falls off. A bit more puff from the fan and who knows?
Interesting that there is only ½ hour between your two runs
No idea about the half an hour, i was there an hour and a half, four runs in total, but happy as Larry so to speak.
