Done

While I had it in bits I slipped a bit of cycle inner tube rubber over the body... that will help to keep out the crud, once the top screwed back in the inner tube can be rolled over it

do note that the newer models have pre-load adjusters without the removable part which MG was able to unscrew to open it up.

I have the newer one which seized. As advised on here, I unbolted it from frame, inverted it, sprayed WD40 liberally, wrapped it in plastic bag overnight. Good as new next morning. I give it a twists every week or so and all is good. Hope this helps.

I found when mine came apart it was the main screw thread that had corrosion... Once cleaned up with a wire brush, and a liberal coating of LM grease it's godd to go... The stiffness has been bugging me since I got the bike a year ago... So really pleased to see MG's video ( Hadn't occurred to me to take it to pieces..thought the bits liberated would explode all over the garage )

Just had mine on my 2011 model replaced as 'a gesture of goodwill' by kawasaki six months out of warranty with a little help from M.C.S. Renfrew so they obviously recognise a problem. But much appreciated by me.

:agree: Same here, but without the need to soak in oil.  Disconnected it and applied WD so it ran around adjuster knob, then turned it the correct way round until it was free. I can now adjust while on the bike if necessary......
