Title: tyre's
Post by: tapps on September 01, 2013, 10:47:06 AM
at the moment i'm running pr3's,i admit there a good wearing tyre as opposed to the oem tyre's,the only niggle i have with the pr3's is that they pick up the odd stone in the tread, which take's a while for it to dislodge,i will next give the bridgestone battlax T30's a try on the gtr.i'm going to fit the t30's on my xjr1300 in the very near future.

Before you make a quick decision this was posted by someone who does approx 30 - 40k miles a year on an FJR. No stranger to buying tyres on a regular basis.....

"....My 030GTs have done 5000 miles, got plenty of tread left, i'd expect them to last close to 10k, no grip issues but the handling has going to pot.

Never had that trouble with the 023s

I have done quite a lot of straight road riding, mostly on the back roads of western France, can't be helped, but the handling is disappointing.

If Mr tyre has 023s when I go back, they will be my first choice....."

The tyres were put on at the begining of the month.......

After the horrors that were the PR3s on my GTR, (Am I the only person in the world not to like the things.?) I have recently fitted some Avon Storm 3Ds to the Versys. Mileage wise they  have already rolled further than the OE Scorpions 4400, and they still look in fine fettle, the PR3s were totally deformed and useless by 5000 miles on the GTR. I would put money on Mr Wolf getting 20000 miles out of the Avons.

Geoff, so far my PR3's are performing great. If I still have them on the GTR next March, which is a strong possibility, they will have been on the bike for 24 months.  :mfr_lol:

Remember, slow, steady & smooth.  :scooter:

My tuppence worth, this morning while cleaning the bike I noticed the rear PR3 looks misshaped, difficult to describe it but the tread seems to be very uneven in its wear, bit like the front tyre some people get when it has ridges, I have this on the rear, visually it's horrid, riding it seems to be ok.

For piece of mind I will change both tyres at the end of October after a weekend trip to Belgium.

Now the question is what to get as a replacements.

I have just switched to Michelin PR3. I was using Pirelli Road Angels but they squared off too quick.

I reckon it was that uneven land you took us across which ruined my tyres.  :mfr_lol:
