Title: GTR test in latest edition of Ride mag.
Post by: alibx11 on August 17, 2013, 04:04:30 PM
Just got my latest edition of Ride through the door this morning and low and behold a Grand Tourer test with the GTR, FJR, 1200RT, 1600GT, Trophy, and the ST1300 all tested together.

Must say the GTR doesn't come out ahead but it isn't the worst either.

It did get a recommendation for best value buy as a secondhand purchase though but up against the New FJR1300 and the GT1600 it failed to impress to much as a new buy.

Can't say that I agree with some of their grips about the GTR as an owner, and as I have never ridden the other bikes they tested it against as comparison I can't really judge it against the competition.

I think the problem with those magazines is that when a new bike comes out its the best thing ever built, and when the design is a couple of years old its described as if it was built 30 years ago.
As with cars these days, I don't think there's many bad ones out there, its just down to personal choice and what price bracket you can afford.

Totally agree. Same with cars. My snobish neighbours look down in disdain at my 53 reg Audi A6 with 220k on the clock. I know it gives a better ride than their latest model. And if I was to upgrade, I'd get an Audi A8 at roughly the same age cause I know it'd still be better than the majority of new cars.

Asif when I bring the Fuzeblock back I'd better turn up in the old Signum then with the dog cage in the back, that'll get them talking.

GT classification is very subjective. Each rider has its own opinion. I like the GTR and I am so in tune with it that I would never trade for any of the other models presented. Ride on... :biker3:
