Title: Seat security
Post by: stig414 on August 06, 2013, 07:50:50 PM
Can anyone else get their seat off without the key? If you slide the seat towards the tank on mine, the latch becomes redundant! I've tried to bend the tang on the seat a little, but I'm very cautious as I don't want to get it stuck on!

I had the same problem with my original seat, but then I bought a topsellerie and that one is fine!
I'd say but a new seat or bring it back to the dealer and make a warranty claim.

Which seat do you have? The stock Kawi seat?

Stig, there should be no play at all in the seat.

I'm in the same camp as Mecki,

I was able to remove the stock seat with a bit of jiggling, but the Top Sellerie seat fits a lot better and has a better quality rear bracket.

Just bend the seat catch slightly back away from the tank.  It bends easy and will be a tighter fit

So far I have 'straightened' the tang slightly, but am nervous that too much bending will result in me not being able to remove the seat at all! When the seat is off, the securing tang - is it straight, or does it have a slight curve to it?
So the general consensus is a warranty visit perhaps?
