From what I've heard about the plod in Wales and how they hate and persecute bikers there I stay well away from that place!
And how can you tell from those photos that it is great bike riding country?
I only see a lake and couple of meters of straight road in front of it.
I've ridden regularly in north wales since 2001 when i passed test and got 1st bike. I've only been stopped once...... and the 20 odd others in the group that I was leading all duly stopped also, but didn't all fit into the bus stop that I was waved into.
What had done.. nowt. The reason for the stop was that the police powers that be were stopping bikes and asking "have you been stopped already today" , and i was a asked my post code and nothing more What was behind this ridiculous exercise? The police wanted stats on multiple stops prior to the "reclaim north wales" protest at Llangollen the following week. They guy apologised for delaying me and his face was a picture of disbelief when the whole group (we don't over take the leader on our ride outs) also stopped.

:mfr_lol: that the Meckie we know and love  first of all.. I've been riding around north wales for that many years I haven't even got the time to count them  and I've never been pulled or bothered by the :police:  only knobs who ride through towns like idiots get the :police: on their case  secondly.. north wales as some of the nicest biking roads of anywhere! the pics I took where of just Bala lake  As a rule most bikers know that north wales has some of the nicest biking roads of anywhere, so didn't feel I needed to harp on about it by taking a picture of a sweeping left hander or right hander "for that matter" As far as the :police: is concerned.. providing you "use your loaf" and respect the 30 /40 mph limits through towns and don't be pulling wheelies or stoppies there is no reason what's so ever why you can't have a dam "bloody" good spirited ride and the :police: will not bother you. I think the problem is certain people :whistling: take to much noticed of what others bikers and others have to say about the north wales :police: the :police: are not saying you must ride like miss daisy  what there saying is.. respect the towns speed limits there could be children playing or old folk crossing the road, also if you dress like a serious professional biker and not wear t/shirts, trainees, shorts or your wranglers jeans and ride in a safe and considerate manner yet still get a good move on  I doubt very much if you will even see a the :police: in fact, I didn't see any :police: to day and it's very rare to see them unless your entering or exiting a town

mecki, you're seriously missing out on one of the UK's best kept secrets if you simply avoid a location because you think the Police are heavy handed, as Dave said, show a bit of respect, you'll receive it in return.
I think the Chief Constable in question is Richard Brunstrom, who left North Wales Police in July 2009.
I spent a fantastic week in North Wales in June 2010, and didn't have any trouble with the local Police. I can confirm the roads around Lake Bala are superb.
Well Dave .. looks like you had a super time of it .... I have been on bike trips to Wales now several times and never encountered any hostile plod. It matters not wether you go north up to Bets-Y-Coed or stay down in The Brecon Beacons its full of great riding roads uncluttered by rush hour traffic !
Your ZZR still looks lovely !

I am sorry, but I read in the press some time ago that the chief cuntstable of the Wales Police publicly announced that he didn't want bikes on his roads and was going to drive all bikers out of Wales. All Welsh cops were to target bikers and harass them at every opportunity until they would stay away.
Obviously worked with me since I never felt the need to find out if that was true or a lie.
And as long as I still live in the North East I would rather go to Scotland anyway.
But since I am stupid I still can't understand how someone can judge from those photos if North Wales is a great biking country or not?
It may well be since those of you who have been there all say so - or is that a lie too?
Maybe it is just that English is my second language and think that looks like means you have seen something.
Well, 2kwaks wrote that it was a great ride, so I guess you can say that if you read it you saw it. :whistling:
Meckie.. I don't know why I'm bothering to fuel this topic any further  but what the hell.. it's very entertaining for the rest of the gang  if you were to show me some photos of a beauty spot where you may ride to for what ever reason "like me to unwind" then say, there is some excellent biking roads around this place! I would have no other choice but to take your word for it, mainly due to the fact I've never been  that's how it usually works  also north wales :police: did have a purge on bikers  due to inconsiderate bikers using north wales as a race track and speeding through towns, if you ride sensible and respect the towns speed limits, the north wales :police: force are no worse or better than any other :police: force when it comes to clamping down on idiots who think their racing the TT circuit against the likes of John McGuinness of Michael Dunlop but  ly most learn the hard way and end up as car bonnet ornaments or branches sticking out of tree trunks.
P.S when did you say you where going to Germany :whistling:  :mfr_lol:

I guess this is supposed to be yet another example of the English hospitility towards immigrants?
Hmm - I think I misspelt that and there is an extra P and I in it.
I have some good and some bad news for you.
The bad news is that I will be moving to Germany this weekend, the good news is that I will nevertheless stay with the forum since even though there are sadly a few boring, dumb right-wing :asshole: s and bullies on here the majority are decent folk.
And often enough there are interesting threads regardless of the unfortunate participation of the first lot.
If you wonder who may be member of the one or the other group - Whomever the shoe fits may put it on.
[/quote] the good news is that I will nevertheless stay with the forum.... that's good news  reading your comments beats the hell out of sorting the "old sock drawer out" when I'm bored to :death: :mfr_lol: Meckie it's only banter  take a chill pill  it's just as well I'm not as touchy as you  with all the short arse scouser :shit: I get of the wolf :whistling: but I think the wolf as now realized.. you can't insult a scouser :nono: but he just enjoys trying
There's an article in July 'Ride' magazine which waxes lyrical about the Welsh roads, it features a ride to Bala Lake and the Ponderosa, it also includes the very talented Jenny Tinmouth
This isn't what I'm used to reading on this forum, its usually good fun. Hopefully this thread can be left to die a death, and we can get back to what we do best, which is take the mick...
Obvioulsy some people have been offended by comments of others. With luck from now on, those people can turn a blind eye to each other and from now on, not engage with each other.
Anyway, north Wales is great!!!
