Ditto, but I did have the HG ones in the Krauser panniers on my CB 1300 and I agree, they were exceptional value.

I'll check in the local shop tomorrow - they still give 30% discount on all HG products until 6/2 and no VAT until Tuesday after all.
I'm not holding my breath, though.
I guess this deal was a clearance offer and only valid as long as stock lasted. :(

Just bought 2 of the small bags for £4.99 each @ HG in Newcastle. They fit snug into the panniers.
By the look of it you could actually get two of them in, one on the inside and one in the lid if they're not bulging to much.

Sorry Geoff, but I haven't seen the big bag since they had only the small ones in the shop and thought, 'for that price I just grab a couple'.
They fit as far as height and length are concerned perfectly.
Width wise they fit into the inner part of the pannier without sticking out so even fully loaded you will still have air between bag and lid.
So my best guess is that the 'big' ones are probably a bit wider and fill the whole box when fully loaded.

Well looking at the dimensions the big bags may even be a bit too big (50x30x20) for the GTR standard panniers compared to the small ones (43x26x14) which fit nicely but obviously lack in width. The volume of the big bag is also nearly twice that of the small one (30l v 15.5l).
So I can imagine the big bag will be at least a tight squeeze when fully loaded, if you can get it in there at all.

Thanks Gerd!!!!!!!!!!!! So what we need to know now is  has anyone got one of the LARGE  HG bags filled it full of underpants and other stuff till it is full and then tried to insert it into a GTR pannier and close the lid. I now feel weak I'm sinking fast, is there no hope. SOS. :'(

;D  ;D  I do sympathise.

I checked the sizes on the HG website and because the Larger bags weren't available at the time and because I thought that the smaller ones would soon be unavailable, I went ahead and ordered the smaller ones, working on the principle that they will at least fit in the panniers.

I haven't received them as yet so don't know how well they fit in relation to the panniers

I bought them in store and so far only put them in empty and they fit perfectly as far as length and height are concerned. So I can't see how bags that are 7cm longer and 4cm higher would fit in there without squeezing them.
AFAIK 50x30x20 is the maximum size for hand luggage on most airlines. I have such a trolley-bag and it definitely won't even fit into the 46l topcase!

Just did my first shopping with the small bags in both panniers today and I must say, they take quite a lot.
Even full they still just fit in length wise but there is still space in the lid and on top. You won't get 2 in one pannier side by side, though. Definitely better and easier to pack than plastic shopping bags! I think it was 10 quid well spent.

OK, just parted with 8.48 for a pair of the small bags too. Based on mecki's experience with the small ones, it sounds like the big ones may not fit when full, so I'd rather have the ones that do fit when full, even if there's a little bit of space left (room for squishing some other bits and bobs in).

Mine just arrived. Bloody good quality for the price. I think I'll even get either a couple more spares, or a large one for the top box.
I would think (as others have said) they fit in the std panniers with a bit of room to spare, so the plan will be to load up with clothes and leave the 'bits and bob' in the spare space behnd the bags.

However the bags did not seem to be GTR shaped so I passed!

It would be prudent to phone and ask first, but if you order them on line they will send them carriage free. Total cost to you will be just over 8 sqid. How do they do it for that price? I despatch stuff from work with TNT and Tuffnells and they charge us a minimum of 5 sqid for each parcel so how the hell HG are selling these bags and delivering them for less than 9 sqid is beyond me. Anyhow we are not bothered about that, when faced with such a bargain just fill yer boots.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Then when the bags arrive fill them as well.     Oh yes I have ordered some for myself, and decided on small. : :listencarefully::As we say up Norf !!!!!What a gud do.

The postage is an overhead just like paying sales staff and appears in their books as cost of sales.
I bet especially in winter they have days when they don't sell enough in some shops to cover the wages too.
After all HG started out in Germany as a mail order business, the shops came much later. :smartass:

That would be a shame since I really like their gear. Good quality and reasonably priced.
I prefer to think it's a stock clearance sale to make room for the 2012 lines since discount applies only to HG branded stock.

"Inner bags" This thread has been a curse on me. After what seemed like a lifetime of trying to glean an answer as to which size bag is suitable for a GTR pannier, and still not REALLY knowing, I went ahead and ordered TWO bags, (Thats Two ) from HG. Lo and behold at 10-30 today in the year of our lord 2012, a parcel arrived at work from HG with my moniker emblazened on the front . What a gud do thinks me, (we all love little bikey type parcels dont we?). So off comes the packaging to reveal an inner bag (Thats one) EH thinks me ONE I paid for TWO :shit: what the ffffffffffff is going on :help: So a phone call to HG revealed a young man falling over himself to apologize, and offer a picking error as the cause for my missing bag, and a promise that  one will be winging its way to DL8 5HN as soon as possible.  Tune in tomorrow folks for the next episode of       "Inner bags"          Brought to you by dales promotions            Lamin I'm NEVER going to forgive you for starting this :2guns:

Final info regarding size ----- the bigger bag is a little too big for the panniers- it'll squash in , but not the best fit. I dont have a topbox but I'd assume that it would fit a box pretty well.
The smaller bags are a little too small for the panniers - but for the price they're hard to beat for the usual shopping stuff ( you know- bread, milk etc  and a for a couple of nights B&B you'd get a weekends stuff in them easily !  -  seem very well made and durable  -- ideal really unless you fancy spending £70 or so for a slightly better fit and a gtr logo !!!

I've got the original, GTR bags which came free & gratis with the bike so I'll stick with them. From the above posts they sound to be the better fit in any case.

I've got the original, GTR bags which came free & gratis with the bike so I'll stick with them. From the above posts they sound to be the better fit in any case.

You know that once you have a bag in there another one won't fit, right?
So why buy new bags if you've already got some better ones?
Reminds me of the guy on TV who keeps buying pickled eggs even though he doesn't like them just because they're on offer .

NOW LOOK HEAR CHAPS, after a thousand hits and nearly a year at the top, its time to stop. It was only a pair of inner bags for fecks sake! Actually, do you think some sort of prize is in order ' Most views on uninspiring Topic of the Year award' Perhaps 100milesaway could offer something to insert into my collection of bikey things? xx

Ditto, must agree they are very good value, my  second one arrived today after a bit of a glitch at HG and as you say for 8 sqid they are a bargain. Tried them in the pannier and they seem to be a decent fit. So the long saga for me has reached a conclusion.  I Depart to my bed a happy man. :sleep1:

A breakdown of its component parts, exploded views,  how they are manufactured, what products to use to clean them, how to pack them into a pannier. Mine arrived today (ordered last week).  For £10 the pair inc postage, I reckon they are a bargain...

I ordered the "large" ones and they seem to be ok. (2010 GTR).  Although I must say, as the panniers are a really good seal, I doubt I will be using them often but at this price, a nice to have for the longer trips.

So a well deserved "ta very much" to the original poster for putting the link (lamin) and to HG for having such a good cheap alternative to the Kawasaki branded rip off merchandised goods... :-)

just to add another dimention I also ordered 2 small bags and 1 large. They all arrived together in a HG bag then wrapped in another plastic bag. But when I opened them 1 of the bags still had the big plastic security tag attached, as I live about 80 miles from nearest HG shop I cant simply pop into store to get removed. Do I try to break the tag off (similar to those attached to clothes) and risk dammaging the handle slightly or send back for replacement?

Some stores closed after administration HG Germany took over the ones that were more successful and kept them open.  I reckon we'll see the remainder close in next six months.  Clearly not doing so well with the constant 40% etc savings.

I reckon they are still struggling big style...

I've personally given up on HG, lost confidence in them.

Those look like a copy of the originals. Not a bad price

I have bought these ones too and they are a good fit and easy to carry.

:agree:

After nearly being knocked off a few times when turning in to the driveway to where I live, I decided to add extra tail lights & indicators...

I have connected them with waterproof sockets made for yachts & boats.

This type of work done to my suitcases makes them well because of the non-removable pins that serve as a flow of current.
Externally the suitcases do not notice anything.
