what is that car of yours ? just cant work it out
my xr, they ony made them for about 18 months before moving onto the 4 x 4's which were 4 door and a bit dull, sadly very few original xr4 s remain, mines pretty much standard . been out in it today and the 2.8 v6 pulls like a train , its awesome
Hi Viper
Yep that XR4i 3dr body shell is unique with its C post arrangement as the cosworths were built from surplus 3dr shells that had only a single side window.
The old OHV push rod thing is a Holden Monaro HSV. (Sold in UK as Vauxhall Monaro VXR)
Basically the old Vauxhall Omega floor pan fitted with 2dr coupe bodywork, lsd, independent suspension all round, 6speed box and a GM LS2 V8..........................checkout this link for the potential of the old girl http://www.monkfishperformance.co.uk/
Its a lot of fun
V8 power
I'll never understand how anybody can get excited about a stupid cage. :sleep1:
Hi Viper,
I am sure that like most of us, you will ignore Mecki's ignorance. Your car is a classic (shame its not the RS500) and you should be rightly proud of it

Why does anyone get excited about anything? Because we are human.
Personally, I don't 'get' grown men wearing football shirts with their favourite players name and number on it, or playing golf, or sci-fi conventions, or people who pay silly money for a classic motorbike and then don't ride it, but just look at it.
As for cars, I have a 1981 2.8i Granada which my dad owned almost from new, so it has a lot of family history/memories
My other car is a 1999 Lotus Elise, bought new when my son was 8 years old, so that has a lot of family history/memories for him
Then there is the Triumph Herald Estate, which I
will get around to rebuilding soon.
Oh and my 1984 Z1100 shaft.
My wife wants to know why I need so many cars/bikes, well I need them as much as she needs 40 pairs of shoes!
Interesting collection there, i,d rather have a Vitesse saloon tho, or a Sunbeam Tiger, or an Austin Healey 3000
Coman
ps I went out on my 1980 GSX 1100 ET yesterday for a 100 mile bimble, still like to just look at it sometimes as well
Nice motor!
I love most things with engines, cars, bikes, planes, trains et-al
Long live diversity and excitement about things that matter to each individual

Dear Forum
I was going to reply to Mecki with regard to his opinion...........................
But I am delighted to see that I'm among friends who respect the right of reply, personal opinion and preference.
Viper, coman37, doebag, Winston Smith..............You guys have a diverse selection of automobile history each machine an individual of driving challenge and pleasure, memories good and bad.................The important point I'm trying to make is that we can all respect each others choices and pleasures impartially without resorting to the narrow minded bigoted behaviour of a school yard bully or racist.
Merki I make no comment on your opinions or life preferences.
Please refrain from calling my choice "a stupid cage"
If I offend by my reply I unreservedly and humbly apologies.
To those who understand the passion of forces involved in movement I salute you.
But I now realise there are some out there who wouldn't understand.
Yours sincerely
Charlie747

here we go again, have you got some type of hate campaign against this site mecki , no matter what anyone on here posts , you come along with your negative , provacative, comments. its beggining to look like a deliberate attempt to just cause trouble . Do you do this in public or is it just keyboard bravery, im sure if you behaved like this in real life you'd be history by now , just read back through some of the comments you have made this year , can you imagine the reaction you would have got if you said these things in person and at bike meet or in the pub. Its getting tiresome and bringing the site down. this is all i have on say on the subject and will not get into yet another forum bish bash .
c'mom mecki , im sure you are a nice guy in real life , just give it a rest will you !

It makes me laugh that the sales brochure talks of a performance engine with "roller cam followers" lol
Approx. 400bhp and 400lbs/ft. torque the beauty is that its so under tuned................throw some wad at it and 1000bhp and torque to match is available in a road mannered pop down to Tesco sort of way on the other hand 200mph+ Bruntingthorpe Club membership is a certainty.
As a man who owns a rare tricky on the limit rear driver you are more than welcome to try it out when we both have time...............on a mildly moist day its a hoot
Wow!! You drive an overpowered rear wheel drive monster alongside the unforgiving dykes of Lincolnshire, are you mad (or just out to enjoy yourself)
Can't beat V8 power, I just px'd my CLK 430 for an Audi 4.2 Allroad, and put the 4.0 Range Rover on E-Bay tonight, fuel costs are killing me but go diesel? I think not
Coman
I have to say that I absolutely love rear wheel drive big grunt cars!
One of the best drives ever was on a driving course in a 3.0l 24v Senator - a slight oversteer into a right hander about 70mph in 3rd and I felt a slight twitch as I straightened the oversteer.
The crew behind rushed over at the next tea stop and Ian (god rest his soul) commented on the two twenty foot long darkies the rear tyres had engrained into North Yorkshires finest bitumen and rolled stones!
Rear wheel and big engine - long may they live! (Hang on - that's how bikes work!!)
:gunsmilie: Coman :gunsmilie: How did you know I'd got a ticket proving my sanity ? :mfr_lol:
Now that's a sweet garage of Toys................. I mean unique off balance sheet business assets .
Each would bring pleasure to own and drive, your a lucky man my friend. The CLK430 one of MB's best modern yet retro looking automotive sculptures.
Alroad should be family fun and enable any pets in the rear to leave an impression in the rear screen under acceleration.....................Do you know its going to be a bad winter???????????????
It sounds like you know big sky country well ?
The rest of my toys are not so special but bring me joy
1 x Yamaha RD250 Circa 1975
1 x Vauxhall Vectra SRI 5dr 2.5 V6 Miltek headers cats 9kg lighter flywheel Circa 2000
1 x Renault Avantime Privilege 3.0 V6 Auto Circa 2003
1 x Vauxhall Monaro VXR 6.0 V8 Circa 2007
1 x Kawasaki 1400GTR Circa 2013
Charlie
oooh a toy list, can i play?

Now that brings back memories of time within the GM franchise network.
At that time most police force traffic and motorway cars were 24v Senators sitting on BBS look a like alloys.................if memory serves me correctly some came with pvc seat covers...............but the sheer joyful memory of taking one of these fine motors up the banking for a few fast laps during Millbrook product days is one will live with me forever.

PS remember Carlton GSI 24v ?
PPS Playtime ...............come join the fun Viper

I remember them but we didn't have 'em!
The original 12v were vinyl seated I think. The 24v we had were manual box and material (velour?) upholstered.
Awesome! First car I ever saw 155mph on the clock on a public road!

You're entitled to express your opinion, that you 'love' an old Ford, so why can't I express my opinion that I don't understand it?
I thought this is a Kawasaki 1400 GTR forum and not a muscle car fan site.
I would also comment if members started threads about their favourite football club, men's beauty products, bands or video games.
And to be honest I feel you are bringing the site down with your threats of violence if someone doesn't share your view.
'You'd be history' sounds like you are threatening to kill me if you should meet me at a meet or in a pub by chance to me at least.
mecki, firstly this thread has been posted in General Discussion and therefore anything can be posted within this section providing it does not breach the terms and conditions of this forum. I see no harm whatsoever in the content of this thread and if you are reading into comments made by Vioer that he is threatening to kill you then I suggest perhaps that you need to re-read his post in the fresh light of day and hopefully you will agree that you have clearly misunderstood any comments which have been made by Viper.
Just enjoy the forum and if you don't want to get involved in certain members discussions because you don't agree with them or share their views then that's fine, just don't contribute to that particular thread.
One of the positives of this forum is that it is a community - not a word I use a lot, or particularly like, but it sums up what it is, not stuffy, not marque-centric, but a great place where people don't just have to stick to the reason that brought us together.
Mecki, your comments always have a caustic edge to them, they may be meant in humour, but they usually result in people getting wound up.
Like Steve says, join in, enjoy, but if you feel the need to say something, even in humour, think how it may be received by others. Hopefully you will take this in the spirit it is intended, but I will batten my hatches anyway....

there is nothing wrong with modern day diesels,i have a 3.0 v6 dielsel xf great performance and economy with a superb 8 speed gearbox.
Have to say the latest generaation of diesel motors developing mind bending mid range. tourque figures coupled to the new inteligent multi speed auto boxes make for effortless progress and make for long term ownership propositions.
I personally love the sound of a big 2stroke diesel underload.
Charlie
Hi Keith,
(Turbo) Diesels are so much better than they were but still cant match the 0-60 times of the Merc or the Audi
Coman
i think you would be surprised the jaguar 3.0 turbo diesel does 0-60 in under 6 seconds and limited to 155 mph i've heard of some going over that ,the old xk 4.0 v 8 cannot catch the xf and does about 17 mpg were as the xf does 32 mpg around the doors went to scotland in mine and it did 47 .7 mpg i find when i drive a petrol car now it seems to be screaming were as mine does 80 mph and it is only revving at around 1850 rpm,
Keith,
stop telling me any more of your sensible engine options, otherwise I might regret my purchase which is only giving me 16 mpg( but a lot of fun)
Coman
