Yeah, love it, hate it, I know it's personal choice but I had to buy a new laptop recently and I chose a Windows 8 model. I'm slowly getting to grips with it but I wish I understood where I am going wrong.
GoPro HD video footage, basically I want to put it on a Blu Ray disc so I can watch it on the telly. I can write it to the disc to playback on the PC, but not on a TV.
1/ Yes I have a Blu Ray disc, its a rewritable one. I'm told that doesn't matter.
2/ I don't have a Blu Ray player, I use the PS3. It detects the disc but says there's no data on it and yet I now there is. The PS3 will play purchased Blu Rays, is there a difference?
3/ If I produce a movie in Pinnacle and write that to the Blu Ray disc I can get that to play on the PS3 but the quality even on Best quality is only 63%.
4/ I know when you come to write the data to the disk there are two options, one to use it like a memory stick for playback on PC's and one to allow playback on DVD players etc, I've tried both options, many times!
Basically HELP :hammer:
I cant answer your question but im curious as to what spec pc you use for HD editing?
P
W..H..O..O..O..O..S..H..................all that just goes over my balding bonce... :mfr_lol:

Sounds like a job for :gunsmilie: Mecki :gunsmilie: ??????????????
Hi Lonewolf
I have experienced this before when copying VHS to DVD on a stand-alone device only to find out you can't play them on a laptop/desktop, only a DVD player.
It has to be something to do with the settings when creating the blu-ray disk. It's not a case of just copying files across either.
I use CyberLink PowerDVD which came with my blu-ray equipped laptop a few years ago. It gives me an option to create a blu-ray disk, etc. which I can play on either my Samsung laptop or on my Sony blu-ray player.
To watch almost any type of video format on my laptop, I use http://www.videolan.org/ VLC.
(I have a laptop, a netbook, a desktop, an android tablet, an iPad tablet, etc. etc......)
Maybe Boomer has some ideas as he works with IT too.
Graeme
LW,
Not sure if this helps, but I've no idea either :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:
I'm sure mecki will know!!
SB
LW, can you supply some more info please?
What version of Pinnacle?
What model TV?
What resolution is the final video? (1080p, 720p etc.)
And what's on the video? :whistling:
Ah, ha. Right I've found a program on the laptop called Cyberlink Power DVD BD, which seems to a program for paying media, (possibly) and there's another program called Cyberlink Power2Go 8 which looks like its a program for creating media.
I'm just erasing a Blu Ray disc through the latter program now to get rid of my previous effort and then I'll have a look at burning the movie file.
Fingers crossed, I will report back.....soon.
Thanks everyone for your input so far.
Rusty, yeah thanks :mfr_lol:
sounds like your player will play Blu-ray discs that are finalised but not rewritable ones?
Is Blue Ray owt like my state of the art Betamax set up :tt2:  :mfr_lol:
Steve .... you didn't listen to Uncle Rusty did you ? Should have bought an Apple !!!!!!!!!!! :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Apple products are overrated.
LW, you need to author the blu ray. At the moment is a data file.
The reason the ps3 can't play it is because it only plays certain data formats
Windows movie maker might also work.

Hi, what do you mean by author the blue ray? I've just been searching Sony's site for help on PS3's but can't locate anything which refers to disc 'types'. I'm using a BD - RE, the file format is MPEG4 which gives excellent clarity and quality.
What you shouldn't do is looking for something like "ps3 file formats video" in your preferred search engine. :mfr_lol:
BTW here is something else you also shouldn't do.
1) Use IMGBurn using steps just like the Guide on burning BD disks in the IMGBurn forums.
2) Place your avi/mkv files into a BDMV folder. It's possible to use subdirectories within that folder.
3) Select only the BDMV folder for burning. Use UDF2.50 as the file system.
I just hope reverse psychology works with wolfs the same way it does with little children. :mfr_lol:
Mecki, it didn't work. I have however discovered where I was going wrong.....it was quite simple really, my version of Pinnacle Studio 14 HD does not support Blu Ray writing. I guess that's a pretty definitive reason as to why I couldn't get it work. :mfr_lol:
