Title: French trip
Post by: PRD on June 22, 2013, 02:00:41 PM
Just about to head off to France for a few days. How do you stop panniers being overkoaded  by girlfriend with cosmetics?

Wait til she's loaded it... then empty it back out when she's not working....

It will work a treat and she'll understand totally ...

Tell her you're really pleased she's taking it all along on the bike, tell her you look forward to trying out her new make up on yerself whilst you're away, then tell her you plan to wear her underwear as well (as if you don't already) and maybe she'll get the message and leave it all behind  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

When I first hooked up with Ella we went on a 5 day Tour of Belgium, Luxembourg and northern France.
When she was packing she packed her hairdryer. I told her no need as we will be either staying with family or in hotels.
She packed it anyways,... and never used it.
Now she packs better but still has the habit of taking lots of stuff along that never gets used or worn.
I just learned to make allowances for it, and take the piss unmercifully.
She gets the right pannier,.. and I allow her to put her handbag in the topbox,... that's ALL
.... unless she sweet-talks me.  :mfr_lol:

A pannier each - preferably a pannier liner each, if you have the top case let her have that and you use a tank bag.

Alternatively, in the real world, you get to use half the tank bag.....

I must I am very lucky here (so far) with my partner, Elaine, accepting that it's all got to fit into her one pannier (my concession was to buy a bigger bike with bigger panniers lol). The top box is for her handbag so when we stop she can get easy access to her purse lol.

Don't forget to fit the hairdressers mirror kit!

Perfect time to tell her that besides riding gear, it will have to be very light. And no clothing allowed behind closed doors  :mfr_lol: Maybe I could get away with that...not !

We have one pannier each, then the top case is used for other shit like electronics (iPads etc.) chargers, snack/ drink hand bag etc. not to forget all the other crap you have to haul around like spare bulbs, disk lock, flourescent jackets etc.

We did 3 weeks away like that last year... We didn't argue too much:

Upon the argument that a bag each is unfair...

Me "my shoes are twice the size of yours!"
Her " yeah but my nickers don't take up any room at all!"
Me "wtf is in that soap bag?!"
Her "and what are all those cables for??"
Etc.
