has any body had any trouble with the sat nav blowing the fuse. when I got the bike it said on previous paper work about it blowing the fuse with the sat nav , as I never until now had one fitted I did read some where that it needs a bigger fuse fitting , I was going to just use it on the battery life , but it would be better if plugged in . any ideas also which fuse is it . thanks ..........
Hi
I didn't think sat navs drew that much current. Which fuse is it blowing as it could be worth considering just upgrading the fuse to the next one up without putting anything else at risk
.
I wired my Sat Nav direct to the battery, the sat nav leads have a fuse built into them.
Kind regards
Steve
Hi, Whats the fuse amp rating that's blowing ?........you may have a dead short somewhere.......
what circuit is the satnav wired to, which fuse is blowing , the inline satnav fuse its self or the bike fuse as in the bike block
do not know which one blows as I have not plugged it in yet , will have to try it and see , it was written on the paperwork that came with the bike that said it was blowing fuses when ,the sat nav was plugged in to the built in socket .
Is there a difference between the capability of the cig lighter socket and the accessory leads? Maybe you can overcome the problem by using either front or rear accessory leads.
As standard the Accessory leads AND the cigarette lighter socket are all on the same circuit and are fused at 5 Amps.
If you ONLY have the SatNav plugged in and it's blowing the fuse then there is a problem with the SatNav or more likely with the cigarette lighter plug or the cable from it to the SatNav. If your SatNav does need more than 5 Amps then it is seriously broken. Most of them charge from a USB connector which is MAXIMUM 2 Amps @ 5 Volts.
