Title: Good Service ....
Post by: Rusty on June 16, 2013, 04:05:57 PM
Just a pat on the back for some excellent dealer service that should be known by any London / South East chaps here on the forum ... it concerns "Metropolis" down at Albert Embankment London ... a MASSIVE dealership for ALL makes of bikes ...
It's all very simple .. blown headlight bulb .. easy to get out and replace .. even for me ... "NO" ... after several attempts I just couldn't get the bugger out .. have you tried it ? ( before you slate me ! ) So .. after Trooping The Colour yesterday and before I made my way home it was a quick ride down there to see the workshop chap ... long and short of it was that over the last couple of years the metal spring/bracket that holds the bulb in place had worn against the actual light housing and slowly made a crack/worn area that then made the bulb very difficult to extract .. but of course when it was out it would then be very loose to put back in ... of course unless you wanted to buy a new light housing ...
The mechanic offered to 1.make me a small bracket
                                     2. See if could find an "old" housing
                                     3. "stick" it back in using an industrial type putty .. which is what he did ..also giving me a strip of this stuff for future use.

All mended now but it was just the friendly "not too much trouble" attitude on a Sat afternoon that I liked .. free coffee made by the girly at reception as they don't have a machine and the very small bill at the end of it. Proper decent customer service. 5*.

Good to know Rusty, half a mile from work, that could come in handy.

Thanks

I had a good look at the photo you sent me, (after I'd had my yummy desert) and one thing sprung to mind. Does the putty set rock hard, if so, how easy will it be in the future to change a bulb?

Headlight bulbs are a swine to get to, especially with big mitts  :hammer:

Yes, they can be a royal pain in the  :asshole: as I fpund out when fitting the bi xenons. I also had to 'modify' the rubber housings to get the new units in...

Thank you chaps .... Your comments have made me feel much better ... I just thought it must have been my awful DIY skills at their best but if you top mechanics have had problems then all is well !
