Title: Beowulf Rad Guard
Post by: Simmo on June 11, 2013, 10:26:53 AM
Has anybody fitted the Beowulf Rad guard.  Had a look at one on their web site £53 earth pounds. it appears too only hook over the top lip of the rad and fasten with one bolt at the bottom.
Just wondered if anyone has one fitted and how secure it is.  Any advice ????.

The old design only used the existing bolt at the bottom while the new design has also a clamp with 2 bolts at the bottom on the left (looking from the front of the bike).
I had mine for about a year now and it is rock solid.

I've had the Beowulf rad guards on many of my bikes. They do not budge.

My one rubbed a hole in the front of the rad after about 17k miles.

- not well made.

- not pre-bent to the curvature of the radiator.

- two hooks at the top are a joke.

- uses flimsy foam tape to keep the guard from rubbing against the radiator. Foam rapidly disintegrates and allows aluminium to aluminium contact.

- my mechanic devised a set of four rubber bungs to (a) keep the guard a healthy distance away from the radiator , and (b) prevent rubbing.

- will not buy another one from them.

All of those who have not had a problem, may I advise you remove once in awhile and make sure it isn't gently chewing a hole in the front of your rad.

I would have recommend until I had to repair my one.................
