Title: hello from east yorkshire!!1
Post by: aljaxon on June 10, 2013, 11:29:07 PM
just traded in my 2004 zx10r (the vicious ones) for a lovely 2010 gtr1400 caf this dinner time.
only ever owned a handful of bikes and this is my first tourer and ive only been out on it for half an hour but plan to go up to Scotland for the weekend

hopefully this is the place to help me answer a few questions i have about the bike and also how to improve my sex life and also to bring about world peace and also discover the meaning of life.

:tank:  had to use this emoticon cos that's what my bike felt like on the very first corner!!!
I just wasn't used to the extra bulk and lack of brake power.
new pads or replace my current wrist exercises with something a bit more effective.....?

Welcome.

I have an '06 ZX10R alongside my GTR, and I would say the GTR brakes are as powerful as the 10s. Yes, the GTR is a good 100kg heavier, so it has much more momentum to get stopped, but I have never found it lacking in brakes.

Might be worth looking at the pads, and check they are not glazed, or completely worn out.

Martin.

As Winnie suggests, improve your sex life with vigorous masturbation, bring about world peace by making everyone ride a motorbike, and the meaning of life, as i thought everyone knew is of course 42!!

Welcome

west hull in east yorks

the back brake doesn't seem to do anything. my riding style is all wrong and I brake going into corners so maybe after a few miles the pads might have got used to doing their job.
the bikes only got 6310 careful miles.

I didn't like the zx10, I have had a zx6r for 5 yrs and like that. I can hammer it and I am the master. I was wary of the 10 and couldn't be its boss.
same with my women I like to be on top.

maybe its cos im not used to riding with my arms level and my arms actually hurt a bit as the forces during breaking make u use different muscles compared to a sporty bike.

I do need a backrest but a search only produces corbin a usa shop.
any pointers?
cheers
plus I kept getting sucked towards the screen

no he had an 09 in but wouldn't move on price.
Lincolnshire motorcycles
he even dropped it off free!!!

so there are others from hull on here??
I was gonna buy a gs to satisfy my touring needs but then one evening at Warley cross café  beeford I got chatting to the owner of a dark red new model gtr and I was sold

last Thursday I got chatting to the southern twang speaking owner of a dark green 10 or 11 gtr who had just been to Scotland and loved the bike.

is there a members map somewhere?
edit found it

I agree with flat -  but straight???

have you been from bardney to Horncastle? its one of the twistiest roads ive been on.
from Horncastle back north we go on the high street which leads to caistor. that is both twisty and up and down.

next time I go to skeggy I will try that coast road back  to grimsby
