well,i went to another dealer 2day to see what they would offer me on my 2012 gtr1400 with a mere 6,530 mile's on the clock in p/x on a zzr performance in blue (metallic) i liked the colour, now for the nitty gritty, would you put up with the hassle of trying to sell it privately,or would you p/x it at a little less than you think it's worth.i'm not sure which route to take..i'm going to get a decent test ride on there demo before i commit myself.
Personally I would P/X I wont entertain people calling at my place wanting to look at bikes, test them and then not coming back
well providing your getting a fair price I would defo p/x the bike with a dealer rather than sell private  less hassle  also the way things are at the moment, who's to say you would get more selling private anyway. I got a fair price for my GTR and my zx6r and I know I would have not got the same price private  those who buy private want your bike for as less as possible so they don't loose out next time round, and who can blame them  there is also lots of GTR 1400's for sale so most likely will need to drop your price considerable to sell  if your dealer is offering you a fair price and you feel you've had fair wear from your GTR  then why give yourself the hassle of knobs coming around to view and kicking the tyres giving you some cock and bull story that he never got what he wanted for his previous bike and even at to relist it a few times before it sold :whistling: been there many times, heard all the stories  save yourself all the :shit: just ride into the dealer with your p/x and ride out with your new bike with a big  on ya face
Hi Tapps,
If they within £200-300 then I would px, less hassle, their cheque/paypal will not bounce, you wont have timewasting tyrekickers having you wait around for them to turn up and then try to knock you down to the dealers offer anyway, (do I sound bitter from previous experiences?)

good luck whichever route you go, you will love the ZZR
Deffo px - i tried selling my bike private TWICE all i got was time wasters, in the end i took a £500 dip but got a great px deal all in all i recon i was about even.,
There is the alternative!
It's a great bike - Don't sell......

personally i try for the private sale first,,,but depends on "can you wait" decision???,,,if your selling private,,a few tips-,dont part with the bike until you have had the cheque cleared, also have a least one mate with you when they turn up,,,if they pay in cash, its not always legit!!!!,,if your gonna put it in the bank,,,tell them that you want to put it in there first before they leave,if they are genuine,,,,,they wont mind!,,,.
Also,i have sold 2 bikes in the last 2yrs, a vfr800,also a hayabusa---on both occassions they have started the bike from cold, waited until it had got warm an done the deal,,,with no try ride out!!!!,,both occassions it was there choice!!!!,
If they do want to take your pride n joy out,,absolutly make sure you get the cash in ya hand,an tell them scratch it/scrape it,,,its theres, a copy of THERE insurance,,ring them to confirm its genuine,,photo copy both parts of there licence, and tell them you will keep them for 2months!!!,,,get them to sign a piece of paper stating what time they leave an come back,,,,,,,,,, the last thing you want is for them to scream up ya local bypass an get a speed ticket,,an then decide they dont want it...a few weeks later you got a fixed penality fine!!!,,,think about it,,you wont be able to take a bike out from your local dealer without a copy of your licence,,,again if they are genuine they wont mind , good luck with what ever you decide my friend. jenros
even if you get their insurance, it wont be fully comp, always 3rd party for other bikes .
if you are going to buy a bike privately these days , a test ride is virtually impossible , most bikes up for sale are not even taxed , you are buying on condition , ownership and engine noise

:agree:
For my first GTR I drove down to Deal near Dover for a private sale from a nice chap. He showed me the bike, he fired it up, I was impressed, I bought it. I didn't ask for a test ride and nor would I have expected him to offer one.
Absolutely did not have any regrets.
However from a selling point of view I'd trade it in every time even if it meant a small loss.
Tapps you could try E Bay. I have never sold a bike on e bay, but have bought lots of things over the years. My understanding is they buy as seen and you get the money before they collect so should be a winner. Worth a try.
hi tapps ,place an add on this site it is a genuine site ,no scammers like e bay.still say mco in wigan will give you the best part ex price and retail price for a new zzr.i couldn't get a deal anywere as good good luck .
bought mine off ebay,(private sale), every one to there own guys
