If you thought the in helmet speakers were rubbish I'd suggest you didn't have them positioned correctly....possibly.
You can get in ear speakers for the Autocom system, have you considered those. Speak to Autocom direct or a company like Chainspeed.

Had mine about 3 years, maybe 4, they are excellent.

You will need an autocom lead with 3.5 jack plug or the speakerless wiring harness for helmet if for use with autocom!

If using with an mp3 or SatNav plug straight in!

They are effing good though!

TBH a decent pair of 'bud' type ear phones will do the job, just make sure they fit fairly flush with your ear or you will knock them out when putting lid on or they will dig into your ears within about 10 seconds!

Motrax used to do some that were excellent.

Try Maplin or even the supermarkets

Tim you said that you had Autocom speakers some years ago... the latest Autocom/Starcom speakers may well be a better quality these days, and as L.W says correct fitting is all important.

I use a Starcom comms set up and the speakers are small, comfortable and very effective

On this theme, ish?!?  Has anyone used the Sena SMH-10 intercom? Looking to get something so I can listen to my lovely wife talk(incessantly) and they get some of the best write ups for the bluetooth systems. I've got the Autocom system just now, which is good, other than i get fed up with the wires.

Cheers

Clive

Another vote for the Ultimate Ears from me. I have been using mine every day for 4 years, superb kit.

@Tim, yes they are expensive compared to normal in-ear music earphones, but these are custom moulded earplugs that happen to have speakers in. They protect your hearing from all the road/wind noise far better than the foam earplugs, plus they allow you to play your music/nav etc.

Not saying you do this Tim, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people jeapordise their hearing by not wearing earplugs.

Martin.

I used an Autocom for many years, but when I bought the Shoei Neotec a few months ago and saw a "Scala Rider" on the shelf I asked for it to be fitted to the new helmet. I don't use an intercom, but there is a built in FM radio with my new headset and the sound quality is superb. As for telephone calls, I am told that the new set - up is far better than the high cost permanently wired installation in the car!

My only reason for not transferring the autocom to the new helmet was the wires, they always seemed to be in the way. It is now my backup set, in the old helmet.

Before I had bought mine from ultimateear I had tried other tyres of plugs.... I must has spent a fortune trying to get some that stopped the wind noise, didn't come out when I put the lid on, didn't hurt when lid was on and so I could listen to my music/sat nav... I wish I had gone for the ultimateear in the first place and I would have saved money....

IMO.... Trying lots of different types to get the one that you are happy with is just false economy..

If you think they are expensive then check out the following links...  :mfr_lol:

I ride a bike just about everyday, 365 days a year and never ever ride without music, pumped in via my Sennheiser earphones. I have tried loads of pairs and the Sennheisers sit in there with no irritating pain against the ear, don't get caught when you put a helmet on and as long as the music is quieter than the roadnoise without ear defenders I guess that I am doing ok.

Pardon . what was that ?

About 20 quid a pair, but normal jack means music or chatting with your mates as you go.

Check em out and then still buy that new rear tyre.

Essex Boy.
