Title: 2 Kwacks once more
Post by: 100milesaway on April 24, 2013, 08:44:20 AM
Yes Dave can now be known as 2 Kwacks again, he has gone and bought a brand spanking new  black Kawasaki, with all the extras, and a lower gel seat. ( You have to do that when your a short arse) :whistling: . He got a very good deal from lloyd cooper in Watford, and he is chuffed to bits  . On Saturday he will be going by train with all his riding kit tucked in a bag,  to pick the bike up and ride it home. I am looking forward to seeing the black beauty (and him) up at the Bridge some time soon, so that we can compare notes on our mutually owned bike, you know the kind of thing, is the screen any good?, what do you think of the tyres?, should I fit a hugger?, what should the bike do on a tank full of fuel?. Do you think the Black looks nicer than the Yellow?.       Yellow!!!!!!!!!  I hear you all scream, they dont do a GTR in yellow, and you would be right  they dont   :nono:             BUT   He hasn't bought a GTR ,   he has bought a bike that comes highly recommended by myself and 3 of my mates. A bike that is a jack of all trades, a bike that will put a smile on your face when out on the open road, plenty quick enough, lots of fun  , frugal, and cheap to buy and run.  Yes my friends Dave has bought himself a very shiny new Versys 650, and after sampling the virtues of these bikes myself (whilst the gtr rests over the winter) I am sure they will be very happy together. Well done Dave you can now enjoy being 2 Kwacks again

WOW, good man Dave, I'm sure you won't be disappointed, they are a great bike

The seat height is 845mm compared to the GTR 815mm and ZZR 800mm so Dave you better get some high heels mate, the Kawa gel seat is 20mm lower and 20mm narrower

And then get yerself up to the Bridge for a ride out with the 'old boys'  :mfr_lol:

He gets away with murder does that man with his wife, what's betting he's told the misses that he won it in a competition or something.  :whistling:

Or the usual ploy, it was Asda price, half price and he couldn't resist it!!

my motto is.. treat them mean which keeps them keen  told the wife it's 10 years old and just had a black new re-spray and the 13 plate is a private plate that's been on the bike since it was 12 months old  and she's having that for now :mfr_lol:

I would also like to add for the wolfs benefit  I also told the wife that when myself and the guy who sold the bike to me and the deal had been finalized, the guy shook my hand and said done!! I mutter under my breath.. you have been  so the wife reckons I got the deal of a life time and even better than asda price :mfr_lol:

Steve..  there is a moral to this story!  don't marry a girl smarter than yourself :mfr_lol:

well Rog.. yes it is a high seat height  but I sat on a versys 650 in the showroom with the standard seat on, and was  it was not as high for me as I first thought  suppose because the standard versys seat is quite narrow compared to the gtr seat. so in effect! the standard versys seat isn't pushing my legs out before they go down  so the versys gel seat is 20mm lower and 20mm narrower which should allow for me to get both feet nearly flat..ish! or guess I won't be stopping on the way home  best make sure I have good piss before I leave then, if the low seat makes no difference :mfr_lol:

I also am not keen on most Hondas but the VFR800 (pre-Vtec) is one of the few exceptions.
It's a nice motor with a useful spread of torque and has character, something sorely lacking in most Hondas.
A friend took a test ride on my 1400 a couple of years back and he said it felt like his VFR800 on Steroids and he was surprised at the total lack of shaft-effect. The only other Honda road bike I've ever ridden that had character was the CX500/650 series. They are a rough old dog, but a loveable rough old dog. The XL/XR 500/600s were a hoot too.
