Today I have just had BSD in Peterborough fit a Power Commander V to my 11 GTR. I have a Two Brothers exhaust (no baffle) and whilst they serviced the bike they also put in a K&N filter. The reason I got the Power Commander fitted was that I brought the bike with the Two Brothers exhaust already fitted and there was definately a flat spot around about 4000 rpm, it felt like it was hunting at that rev range.
I would like to say what a excellent job they did on the bike, it was put on their Dyno and they set the bike via the commander to run a lot smoother. Apparently it was running very lean on about 10% - 15% throttle at lower revs and at high revs and open throttle was running rich. With a large capacity bike like the 1400 running on normal roads it mainly lives at about 10%- 20% throttle so the set up has definately smoothed the power delivery and also more linear. They didn't remove the secondary butterflies as the technician said on the later 1400"s the open a lot sooner and are much better at producing a more smoother power delivery and if they removed them then the power would be more snatchy?
The ride back home felt so much smoother and he also did something to stop the exhaust popping and banging on over run. I don't think it felt any more powerful and to be honest increased power was not what I was after. The power graph they gave me showed a very linear power and torque curve and that's what I could feel on the road. For those of you who want to know its max power was 152.33 bhp and Max Torque was 100.68(ft-lbs) between 6000 and 7000 rpm. I am not sure on the standard numbers but suggest they are around these numbers?
Was it worth the money, definately in my opinion the fantastic engine on this bike now is now even more sweeter. I would like to add what a great bunch of people they are at BSD and could not have been more informative and willing to show me the graphs etc and said if I wasn't happy with the map that they would set it up again.
How much did it set you back may i ask? Im considering having mine remapped as apposed to PCV
The total cost was around the £400 mark, this included the cost of the PCV , K&N, Dyno time and fitting. I was going for a remapp but was told by BSD that they didn't have the technology / equipmet to remapp Kawasaki's?
My concern with remapping the bikes ECU is what happens when you sell the bike or if you get an issue with the ECU and also you need a Dyno to set the map up for your particular bike / bike exhaust set up. I know you can send your ECU to the USA to get it remapped but without time on a Dyno how can they set it up for your bike or your situation.
Anyway you pays your money and makes your choice, I just was impressed with the individual service that BSD offered. They seem to have lots of experience with this engine type and wanted to ensure that the bike was set up for my circumstances.
Here's a link to a piece they have done about my bike.

If that link does not work look on their web site under news and follow the link....
You make an interesting point about removal when selling, also didnt consider that if i ever sold just the exhaust for example. Will speak to my local PC dealer
Oh btw, did the tuner mention anything about blocking the egr tube while mapping the bike?
After speaking to my local dealer, i may buy and fit my own PCV then have them map it, your price seems very good compared to the quote i got.
Not sure what you mean about the egr tube but in the article they did block of the secondary air valve to stop the pipe popping and banging on over run?
In the power commander box they give very good instruction manual as to how and where to fit the PCV with pictures, I am not the best mechanic but I could have done this but BSD said the actual fitting of the PCV would only take about 30mins so for the sake of 20 odd quid I let them do it and they have done a very nice job.
Its called a pair valve. It releases fresh air into the exhaust from the airbox to give cleaner emmisions. Itll also give incorrect air fuel readings while mapping.
With all this talk about PC - doesn't putting a PC on disable the traction control?
It shouldnt do cos it only alters the injector pulse.
Faith can move mountains .... just my 2 cents!

All the bikes from the factory have the same map :-) If you're not happy with changes to ECU them change it back :-) Remember a PC only controls fueling, not throttle / butterflies opennig / ramp speeds etc. Hardest job is getting the ECU bolts out....

Andy, thanks for the email!
On the GTR our reflash adds quite a bit of tq down low, in addition to the top end punch of the added whp. Gains are 10-14 whp . Not as great as the zx14, but the cams are "softer" on the GTR.But the huge gain is to rideablity, as this makes the bike a riot to ride.
We charge 400.00 usd for the reflash, and shipping looks to be about 100.00 if we go overnight, or 60 via parcel post(4-5 days)
We Change almost all of the fuel, timing and throttle tables, as well as a great deal of things we don't talk about
Yes the traction controls work as stock, no difference. The Eco mode works better due to the added timing
We do indeed adjust the secondary plates, and the ramp rate
