Its gonna be a tight squeeze but ive booked up some hotel and planned a route around Ireland in June. My mate Colin and i are gonna be spending 5 days (4 nights) covering about 800 miles and taking in as much as we can.
We'll be landing in Larne and will go around anti clockwise direction, stopping overnight in Letterkenny, Galway, Cork and finally Dublin. Hopefully well be taking in sights such as the Giants Causeway, Doolin Cave, Cliffs of Moher, poss Titanic Centre but if anyone has any suggestions from experience, please feel free to speak up.
Hopefully it'll be something like this.

Yep thats exactly how i feel. So were gonna make the most of the 4 days as best we can.
I could, but won't, bore you for hours about biking in Ireland (north) Kev I was married to a lass from Larne and consequently travelled there by bike on dozens of occasions
N.I is a beautiful country with outstanding biking roads, (Antrim Coast) and hospitality to match
Enjoy your visit my friend...my prediction is that you will enjoy it, and that you'll return again, and again and........
That looks like it's going to be a cracking trip mate ... enjoy .. and of course don't forget the photos !!

Yep ill be in my textiles alright
Been that i live in the south west ,limerick, if you can i would take the cork to limerick road[hour and a half driving tops] and on to galway differently ,go via killarney tralee ballybunnion glin askeaton onto limerick then via ennis kilrush kilkee doonbeg onto lehinch ennisdimon lisdoonvarna ballyvaughan kinvarra kilcolgan then on to galway about 270 miles tops .I have driven from my home town limerick to newry and back in one day.Depending on where you are staying you could go to limerick via bantry and kenmare then onto killarney roads are fun scenery beautiful
Thanks, will bear that i mind. For most part, we have an idea of where we need to go, but we will no doubt change on the fly. Its inevitable.
Don't miss Craggy Isle,.... and have a cup of tea with Mrs Doyle whilst yer there.
Seriously, the Iles of Arran or if you don't fancy the ferry trip (it's pretty rough on a good day), at least check out the cliffs south of Doolin.
Fecking awesome to see those BIG Atlantic breakers SMASHING into the cliffs.
On a bad day you can feel the ground shake when they hit.
Yeah i believe we had Doolin on the list somewhere.
Kev, I was looking at your proposed route plan in Northern Ireland, and it seems that you planning to visit the Giants causeway whilst you are there, but your route suggests that you will be using the A 36 & A26 via Ballymoney and Coleraine to Ballycastle
If this is indeed your plan then I would strongly suggest that you change it and use the A2 coast Road from Larne through Glenarm, Carnlough, Cushendall and Cushendun as this is the famous Antrim coastal route and it is truly spectacular....do not miss it my friend, it is an absolute 'must do' ride, and you will not be disappointed
You willstill have time to get to Letterkenny for your overnight stop
Ill have to update the map picture as i think that the previous ones. The A2 straight out of the ferry port at Larne is the way weve now planned. I was also told by a work colleague who been. He basically said turn right out of the port and just ride along that stretch.

Correct, keeping the coast on your right :mfr_lol:
map now update.
Ive left the ferry in for the time being but that could change.
That's better
Well, nearly that time! 1 week to go. Had a bit of a panic on cos P&O contacted me after one of their ferries had to be dry docked and the service timetable was disrupted. Its actually worked out better, cos ive now ended up on a faster express 1 hour ferry, and were staying an extra night in Belfast so we dont have to rush to Larne dead early for the return. Might get to see the Titanic museam now!
good result Kev. enjoy Ireland, I know very well that you will
Im back, safe and have loadsa pics/vids but need a few days to sort them out. Covered 1365 miles door to door. Im knackered!
Looking forward to seeing the photos etc and reading a write up on your travels, get on with it! :mfr_lol:

Day 1 Uploaded, Newcastle to Cairnryan to Larne to Giants Causeway to Letterkenny
http://s71.photobucket.com/user/kevshek/story/17189
The ferry was an hour late, which meant we didnt have time to go on the A2 coastal route to The Giants Causeway, but we did have a bit of a ride up it on the last day before we went back to the ferry.
Heres a video of boarding the P&O ferry, this was actually on the way back but its the same deal, just my mem card failed and i didnt get any footage from day 1.

Any chance you can share the route files either on here or via email.?
+1 .. great looking roads and scenery
Thanks peep. I didnt plot a route as such, we just chose some places to go via, and used googlemaps! to guide us there. The route is on the first post, but ill do a list. Theres a couple more days to go but im not home right now to post up the rest. Ill do that over the next week. ive got to upload and sort out all the pics/vids first, but i should have mentioned the places we went to/from on each day

Guiness Storehouse, great place to visit.
http://s71.photobucket.com/user/kevshek/story/17417
They look good piccies ... the lease which you took a picture of under the glass in the floor was for £45 a year for 9000 years signed in 1759 ... amazing !
It was a very informative place, it does give you a different perspective on guiness and not just a pint of black stuff which has a nasty after taste. It actually very smooth (if yous havent experienced the true irish guiness)
Ive also got some pics from House of Waterford Crystal. Also worth a visit (for free) if you wanna look at stufff you cant afford or would buy!
