Hi all,
The old girl is due her first MOT next week and during my Pre- MOT inspection I have found a small hole about the size of a 20p in the side of the rear box facing the swing arm. It is no where near the pipes and it isn't corrosion as the box is carbon fiber.... I am not sure what has caused it as it isn't leaking. Does anyone know if this would this be an MOT fail?
The exhaust is an after market Beowolf exhaust system with a lifetime guarantee but not on the Carbon cover....
I would suggest that it would be an MOT failure.
Yeah on closer inspection it seems that it must have been hit by something on the road (Carbon fibre not that strong then!!!)
It looks like an impact hole.... Does anyone know of a MOT approved fix? I know there are patches/bandages from Holts Gun gum ect but not sure if this does carbon fibre. It is a shame as its a really good exhaust otherwise and no issues.
Heres a pic
That's been hit by a stone or something thrown up by the wheel.
I would have thought that carbon-fibre would be stronger than that, if it is actually carbon-fibre.
If the exhaust is blowing out of that hole when you block the end of the silencer then it is an MOT failure.
If it doesn't then it will pass.
Hi boomer, yes looks like a stone and I thought it would have been able to take an impact too...
It is blowing unfortunately and it is a shame that its such a small hole. As it is on the inside I thought there may be a repair putty or patch I could use. Anyone know with it being Carbon Fibre
Try this to fix it... Should do the job ok...

Thanks Debs....Would these be ok for the exhaust do you think? It doesn't say anything about heat.
Dont know... You could always contact Beowulf and see what they say.
Stick the original one back on for the MOT then switch it back, or if you don't have the original one is there anybody in your area who might let you borrow there's.
Have a look around our area if there are any race teams or suchlike who might do young repair.
Alan
Better yet, stick the original back on and then ask Beowulf of they can help repair the hole.
They have pretty good customer care.
Unfortunately don't have the original.... :-(
