I bought the calsci screen from Nige as he is getting rid of his GTR... Well fitted it today after washing & polishing baby...
I had the original Kawasaki Tall Screen on and fitted the Laminar Lip to stop the buffering on my helmet.. I compared the 2 and the Calsci screen is wider at the bottom and taller by about 3". It is not as wide at the top as the Kwak screen so will et you know how I get on with it...
Another thing I noticed is that i does not come down as far at the front as the Kwak screen does..
Love mine Debs
Compared to the original pile of crap it's like a different bike
I hope so Bryn
I put the Laminar lip on the original screen to give me the height I needed... This one looks even better...
That's the same screen that have. It was on the bike when I bought it and I have the original screen but have never used it.
I'm 6'2 and with the screen at its highest I can ride at up to 70 with my visor up. But at its highest Pam gets a buffeting! but it keeps the wind and rain off me!
P
ive got one, looks a bit goofy but does the job
I did a FBOS course run by N Wales police and had a boy in blue looking at my screen and muttering about it being of a height that C&U regs would require a wiper!
P
Your new Calsci looks to have a flatter profile than the OEM screen Debs, maybe its an illusion
BTW Baby looks shiny

They sound like they need to get out more!
After doing 4 hours last night up to Luton airport and back, I wasn't impressed with this screen..
I felt less protected from the wind that I had with the original tall screen with the Laminar lip fitted..
I will be changing them back over asap..

Debs, i like the mirror covers in carbon, do the covers pop off, or are they fastened in some way.

They are held on by 4 clips that are part of the cover. use a small screwdriver and slowly take it off.. as it comes away you will see the clips. push the clips in slightly to free it. I then used carbon wrap that I got off fleabay

Do you think that the front end being higher up allows more air up inside the screen rather than being forced up the outside?
I like the look of the screen and also have a lip but if that's the issue I won't be buying one.
Alan
Patrick ... that is CLASSIC North Wales Traffic Police for you ..... they have a real and lasting reputation for being very anal ! I mean why would you look at a bike screen and think " Ohhh Yes ... that's going to need a wiper if it gets any bigger " !!!!!!!!!
Looks like an XL, they don't get much taller :-) Think mines a Large, I see they do a wide screen now http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Concoursprod.html
Thanks Debs.

The Calsci is wider at the bottom and narrower at the top.. This made a big difference, plus because of the hole in it, when the screen is fully up the wind comes through which I didn't like. Another thing I found that although it is about 3" taller I still had to have it up fully so I didn't get helmet buffering.
With my original & Laminar lip I can still see over the top and not get any buffering, and because its a lot wider it gives more protection..
Well thats what I think anyway. Ive now changed it back over

 :mfr_lol:
I prefer mine to be fully up as well, that way I get value for money, but looking at Deb's which has a hole I suspect even fully up other protection may be needed.
I like to be tucked right in behind so I can concentrate on riding, not having my head shaken all around the place.
Debs, could you not fill in the hole and see if that makes any difference to your wind problem?
Alan
Debs,
Is there something about the laminar lip/standard screen combo that made you go for the Calsci? I am thinking the lip is the perfect screen solution, so just wondering what negatives you experienced.
Martin.

No there isn't. I bought it off Nige as I was planning on moving to Canada and taking my original & laminar lip with me and selling the bike with the Calsci screen, but plans have now changed and Im not going.. I thought I woud try the screen to see if it was any better, but its not..

Well how about putting some gaffer tape across the hole, putting the screen in the upright position and taping the bottom up then take it for a ride, just see if there is any difference?
As for other suggestions I have loads.
Alan
Debs, unless you are 6'6" tall the XL Calsci is too big for you.
To be able to see over it you will have it lowered too far and then the airflow won't be right.
Did you follow the Calsci screen height calculation here?
http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Fairing.html#Height (http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Fairing.html#Height)
Mine is a +6" over a stock 2008 which is a Large and I am 6'4" with a long back (32" inseam).
On a blustery day i sometimes wish it was a couple of inches taller but if I hunch slightly I get no buffeting whatsoever.
In the summer I tend to fit the OEM screen as it's too damned hot and I want all the airflow I can get.
Bllody hell.. More Double Entendre's than you can shake a stick at

There's an idea Deb's, maybe a double entendre would fill the hole.
Debs, I dont know how you put up with these cheeky young devils. :embarrassed: :whistling: :mfr_lol:
