Putting the feelers out to see if anyone has any used risers going cheap. Ebays a bit expensive at the mo. If all else fails i buy a block of aluminium and have them machined out.
i.ve always thought the bars on the gtr were high enough,i've got them on my 1441,but obviously the bars on that are a lot lower, if you make the bars any higher on the gtr you will look like peter fonda in easy rider,
i'll keep a look out for a gtr chopper when i'm up the toon!!!!!
cheeky git!
im finding im getting a bit of soreness in the wrists, this is increased as the speed increases cos the vacuum effect from the fairing/screen. For long journeys, this is gonna be a problem.
might go for ape hangers instead then :mfr_lol:
how come you do the hoovering when you ride your bike!!!!
i figured you wouldnt understand, your black one obviously isnt as fast as my neptune blue one :smartass:
You are looking at £70-£100 for a new set.
There are plenty of options though.
I sold mine 3 years ago and to be honest I haven't missed them at all.

, i sold my blue one ,i still havn't seen a better one , they look good in blue, as for the fastest , you are right as i am stll running mine in, bet i could beat you to 75 mph though !!!!
Im gonna pop over to metal supermarket and see how much a block of 2" 6061T6 is and see which mate i can tap to machine it. Its gotta be less than 70 quid!! ive just spent silly money on exhaust, pegs, tat, need to save some money somewhere.
Hi Kev
I had a similar problem with sore wrists on my GTR but didn't want to fit risers. In the end I fitted wedges which measured at the bar ends reduce overrall width by 1.5" back towards rider by .75" & about 1" higher. Got mine from murphskits, can't remember how much but not cheap with import duty etc but they have worked for me with no more sore wrists. I guess you pays your money & hope for the best. Hope you find a solution.
Regards
Trotter, whats these wedges? Have you any pics?
Kev, sorry no photo's at the moment, not got the bike handy. They are aloy wedges that fit the same as risers but alter the angle of the bars. go on www.murphskits.com & it gives you the info there.
I have the 2" risers on mine and would not be without them.. Certainly makes the riding better..
AH right i get what you mean hence the name wedges! :hammer:
Debs so no chance you selling me yours then. :embarrassed:
Is there a difference between the ABS and Non ABS risers? Cos they look the same!

Not a chance.... :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
No difference between ABS & non-ABS.
If you get a set made make sure that you get a threaded hole made to take the bolt for the brake hose mount as that will need to move up.
You may be able to make a set for less than £70 but it's a lot of effort to save a few quid.
Thanks for the info Boomer
i will consider my options
Bugger it. Ive order some from ebay US for 77 quid :undecided:
keep your fingers crossed the customs dont slap there bit on when they land in this country , i've been charged twice when ordering raisers from the genmar factory.good luck.
yeah that the only snag. Does duty and tax apply to the shipping cost or just the actual item value?
Its charged just for the price of the item...
You wont regret the risers

dont know how they actually calculate it ,but the last two sets of raisers from genmar ,they slapped £19.00 onboth times.i contested it the second time and waited ages for a reply, infact it was that long i had forgot asbout it,then a letter arrived telling me how they had ripped me off for my £19.00 ,you cant beat them,as i said good luck dont think they charge everyone.
its something like 15% on top for import duty, then 20% VAT on top of the value + duty. so youre getting taxed on top of tax, which fair....... NOT! :gun_bandana:
Usually parcel force robbers charge you about 18 quid for the pleaseure of them looking at your parcel and charging you custom taxes, which again is fair....... NOT!
At least if its only 20 quid or so, its still inline with the 100 quid sets here. Might be worth noting though, i think Parcel Force keep records of parcel deliveries to private address, it they know they stung you once for customs for ordering goods from abroad to that address, i think they flag up your address when future deliveries come through too. This time its getting delivered to my parents address, so ill see what happens.

I've never heard of that one before kev...are you sure
I've had to pay through the nose on a number of occasions, customs, VAT & Parcel Force, for N.O.S parts arriving from various parts of this planet. on one occasion the 'taxes' amounted to £90.00 on top of the price of the part, BUT it was an item for a Bridgestone that I simply couldn't source anywhere else, so I had to pay
I cant confirm if its true, its just my suspicious mind. But if you think about it, in this day and age, how hard is it to flag up an address? Especially if youre know to import goods? I used to order stuff from the US for my car when i was heavily into modifyibg that. Eventually i kept getting collard for customs.
My Risers.. Love them :D
TBH I've toyed with the idea of risers as me olde back plays up sometimes, maybe I'll fit a set someday
Well my lower pegs arrived from the far east, and hopefully my riser will be here soon. Ill let you know how it feels when i have them fitted.
Woop Woop, Bar Risers with no Customs  that best kinda
Get these babies on over the next couple of says.

Must admit Bar risers were the greatest £100 I've spent on the bike yet, took a trip over on Liverpool ferry last week and rode down to Somerset and then Surrey and back and felt no discomfort at all.
Got mine fitted (see my bike thread) but have only been out 1 afternoon yet straightaway i can tell it muchos better. Glad i went for the 2" ones.

It's not a good opportunity, or timing, from where I am sitting; ie trying to sell a pair of used ones
OH NO ! Its all kicking off! :2guns: :gun_bandana: :gunsmilie: :mfr_lol:
Too much supply n not enough demand!!!
Mine have gone now  so it's an opportune time to say I thought they ruined the handling of the bike. It made the bike feel like a moped and made it very hard to turn in and the handling at low speed was terrible. It had them on it when I picked it up and as soon as I removed them it was like getting a new bike. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone; sorry

I also can't see how raising the bars will improve comfort unless you're very tall.
I'd prefer them a bit more forward and slightly lower actually, but I guess that's not an option.

I tried the ZZR but it was too 'sporty' for my taste. :mfr_lol:

Shorter arms, shorter upper body, requiring longer reach, resulting in excessive pressure on the forearms.
My production with CNC machines.
Risers with various altezze.15mm.20mm.30mm.
