Title: 'Feel' of GTR gear changes after service...
Post by: Ros on April 03, 2013, 05:24:33 PM
Hi all,

I just had my bike serviced (18,000KM) and took it out for lunch today because it was getting on for 20°C and nice and sunny.
I have to say the bike felt great - better than before the service...

However, even though gear changes from 1, to 2 and then to 3rd gear were sweet, I found that 3rd to 4th, then 5th and 6th were a little strange.  It seemed to click into the middle position and then click IN to gear when I re-engaged the clutch.  I tried giving it the old pre-pressure before  pulling in the clutch (as many say your supposed to anyway) and this made little difference.  Gear changes were smooth from a riding point of view but from a left foot point of view, it felt a little strange...

It didn't do that before the service

Anyone else felt this sort of thing?

Had a nice pizza anyway...   :whistling:

Well Ros on a serious note, I haven't had to have my bike serviced yet since getting it last year and haven't noticed anything strange about the gearchange. Nice and smooth is how I would describe mine . No clicking

Apart from my bikes feeling 'fresher' after a service I can't say that I've ever experienced any problems with gearchange following a service

Give them a call and ask if they moved the gearlever?
Moving it just a couple of mm can change the feel remarkably.

Actually I think they might have done.  I did think when I hopped on it after that it was in a different position....
I shall investigate :)

Good point - thanks!!

Why would a dealer mess with the gear lever?

Who knows.  It's probably just me.  I don't know if they did move it or not.  But adjusting it has made a difference.

I had a similar issue after a service and a quick adjust of the gear lever (lower) meant that the gear changes were more positive and I could go back to clutchless changes on full throttle whilst in BANZAI mode!
