Can anyone give me an idea how the bikes are tied down on the DFDS crossing from Dover to Dunkirk? Are we responsible or do they take charge?
I know how P&O & LD Lines work but had no experience with DFDS.. Going with them as I got lots of booking back in Jan for only £27.50 Return.
I would have preferred to go by Eurotunnel but with the price of fuel going up all the time I like to try and save on the crossing.
I don't know about DFDS, but don't come to Italy... I just paid :gun_bandana: 1.89EUR per litre to fill 'er up....
Nearly as expensive as printer ink here
Ok thx Ros.. Im only going over to France & Belgium..
Just emailed DFDS to see what they say re strapping down.

When are you going? Seventeen of us are going on Friday morning.

Not until the 14th to 17th.. Thats if I get a ticket for a concert in Paris.

Who you off to see?
Might go and see Steve Lukather who's playing just down the road from here tonight... tempting...
I got a reply back from DFDS.. They are like P&O as in they supply the straps but its the bikers responsibility to secure it...
Well I was hoping to go and see Lara Fabian in Paris but I couldn't access the site from the UK to buy the tickets so I missed out.. Emailed her PA who has told me all tickets are now sold.
Debs, dont think youv'e missed out really. Just been looking at some You Tube clips of the lass and she doesn't even speak Yorkshire.
Debs... are you actually French? I didn't know that anyone outside France had ever heard of Lara Fabien...
Besides that ticketnet.fr probably won't work cos I set up the servers there...
:help:

How dare you Steve :nono:
Lara is sooo beautiful.. Ive seen her 4 times in concert.. The last time was in Russia last October when she took me for dinner for my birthday... I already have tickets to see her in concert. 1 in Sept, 1 in Oct & 2 in Nov.. Also seeing her for a special celebration in May..
She speaks lovely English and can speak a total of 5 languages and also writes her own music and can play the piano... Check this one out..

Ros she is known world wide..
The only reason she's not that well known in the UK is because of Sony. Lara and Celine Dion were signed with them when Celine won the Eurovision. Sony only wanted to promote Celines music in the UK and not Lara's as they felt she would hold Celine back...
Debs, hold your bloody horses, how the hell do you get her to take you out for some trough?
Your'e right ok course she is stunning...by the way does your surname begin with a C and end with a T?
So many questions, hope you don't mind.
I'm not personally a big fan of either to be fair, but would prefer listening to Lara than Celine...
Although speaking of bilingual English / French singers, I did attend a cocktail party with Tina Arena about 10 years ago back in my attempts at managing a Rock band in Paris...
Lonewolf stop trawling social networks :nono:
Ros, whatever do you mean? :mfr_lol:
I was never a big fan of Celine until I heard her sing in French.
Somehow her voice works better in French.
Never heard of Lara. Not my usual taste in music but I'll listen to anything once.

Funny :censored: er. :mfr_lol:
bringing it back to ferry mode.......
does strapping down (the bike) apply to the ferries over to Ireland? Im planning a trip poss in June
I cannot see any situation where you wouldn't strap the bike down on a ferry.
Whether you do it or the crew I don't know. Varies from company to company

Indeed - strapping the bike down... Doesn't it depend on the weather?
You don't need to strap it down in the Chunnel...
OK, I've had too much wine. hat... coat...
:whistling:
just been to Ireland at the wekend on Irish Ferries from Hlyhead to Dublin.
They strap it down for you but if they dont it is very easy
They have a cushion on the seat to stop the strap rubbing
The one tip I would have is when you leave the ferry the signs want you to go to the tunnel to exit the port and travel out of Dublin.
Its a 10 euro toll and is easy to avoid.
Just head to the river and follow it out of Dublin
:cheesy:
We went looking for a new sofa but DFS wouldn't let me take the bike into the showroom!!
