Title: Hi from Lincolnshire
Post by: Ant on April 01, 2013, 06:08:17 PM
Hi all,

I currently ride an FJR1300 and Z1000 and very active in these forums and on rideouts, but I am seriously considering a 2012 GTR1400 ive seen for sale and has really grabbed my attention.

So is there anyone on here that can give me a good comparison on the 2.

Im not expecting to be put off either as I will keep both but I really like the look of it. Only one area i would like to change if poss is the single pipe. ( Maybe thats because im used to seeing 2 on the FJR )

Are there any problems with the newer models / Recalls, its better to ask the people who ride them, rather than the people who sell them.

Cheers
Ant

an official welcome hereby ;-)

have no experience with those bikes but a lot of bikers here over the channel have changed to gtr ; i don't know bikers who did the other way ...

for me it's the best "sport-tourer"...

good luck ;-)

I've never owned the bikes you currently have however I have owned two GTR's, a pre 2010 and a post 2010 model. My personal preference is the post 2010 model but I couldn't fault either. If you invest in a GTR, you'll wonder why you didn't buy one earlier.

Oh, almost forgot..... :185: I'm just waiting for Dec to come along now!

Welcome!

I have had the privelidge of riding the FJR back to back with the GTR (and other Sports/Tourers) testing them.
I also used to ride an FJR for work.

The GTR wipes the floor with the FJR in all areas (although the FJR is a stonking engine)

Handling is light years ahead of the FJR and it is for more comfortable.  It has a big bike feel compared and feels more modern.

The GTR will not disappoint!

Welcome to the forum Ant, this is a great place to be and when (not if) you have purchased your GTR you will see what a great bike it is

Winston is the man to tell you about the comparison between the GTR and FJR ...he does know his stuff,.

I'm on my third GTR and had a brief flirtation with a couple of BMWs in between (K1300 GT and GS) both of which were good bikes in their own way but not for me, I find the GTR is a much better all round package.

Here's a link to the Muzzy twin pipe system for the GTR which will lighten your pocket by about £1500.00-1600.00

Hello Antman .. and welcome ...
I have only owned the Gtr and it's lovely but have ridden the others ..... only for short periods of time ....... The FJR has a sublime engine .. smooth fast and quiet ...and that's where it stops for me. The other, a BMW 1300GT had an engine with a bottomless pit of power,.... chuck me farley it was quite something but the cosmetics and the "slab" fairing put me right off. The Z1000, sorry not ridden yet.
The Gtr is an all round stunner .. does everything it says on the box and more .. fast agile and able to eat up the miles in complete comfort you would be hard pushed to find an equal bike for the money.
Hope that helps !

Very predictive of you.......

I'm for the Red, Mrs for the Blue

As the FJR is Blue I've found its shows up scratches, thinking the Red wont be so bad ......I maybe wrong !

But going to view some Green ones too tomoz......

:mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

My second GTR was Blue and it was a stunner especially in the sunlight when it 'sparkled'

The 'Red' is a colour that in my opinion, looks better in the flesh

GREEN is the undisputed fastest colour available  :mfr_lol:

No matter what you choose it will be right for you....enjoy
