Had a bit of an arse twitchin moment this lunchtime on my way home from Bradford. I met the same idiot twice within fifteen minutes at two different locations miles apart, whats the odds of that.
Firstly I came upto a T junction intending to turn left onto a dual carriageway when an old red estate car with two guys in it pulled up along side me. Windows were down on the car and there was the familiar smell of cannabis wafting out the windows. I pulled out first and made my way home and then about a mile and a half from home I'm reducing my speed as I leave a 40 limit to enter a 30 limit and the same red estate car comes shooting up behind me and nearly rams me. The lights are on on the bike obviously and I'm wearing a high viz jacket. Its thick of fog, the guys got no lights on and he's smokin dope, thats all I need. Thankfully he decided to get past me, I'd rather have him in front of me than behind.
You can never find a Police car when you want one. ::)
Fog ? Sunny and warm down here Mr Wolf ... you want to get yourself down to the south coast .. none of that cannabis shit ... just crack and plenty of it !
Bradford is a deprived city, we cant afford Crack. :)
Plenty of crack heads there though.
That fog was thincker yesterday. On the Penines I deliberately had my foot on the rear brake just so I won't get rear ended.
In that situation, memorise numberplate and make/model/colour of car.
Pull over, whip out yer mobile and dial 999.
I've done it several times for drunks.
If you don't do it and that drunk/druggie runs over a child, how are you going to feel?
Personally I think they ought to start giving the same penalties for phone-driving as for drunk driving.
Saw one this morning on the M25.
Twat in a Renault Megane Scenic was on the phone and just changed lane right into the side of a builders Transit van.
I stopped and gave the van driver my contact details. I was about 3 cars back and wasn't filtering.
;D
Boomer, I like your style and trust me I did call the Police. They said they would call me back to give me an update, however as I sit here writing this, almost 28 hours after the event I have heard nothing from the boys in blue. ::)
Thankfully there is a plan B, which I will implement tomorrow when I am back at work!! ;)
Isn't reporting crack heads to the police a permanent job in Bradford LW? ;D

NB, Bradford is a beautiful city, it has some wonderful architecture and great people......ok I lied about it being a beautiful city and the architecture stuff, and I try to avoid most of the people most of the time but you get my drift. Someone has to live there!! ;D
Thank God it's not me, now LONDON is a great place ..............
London is an overcrowded public sewer. ::)
Bradford is a sh!thole but at least it only takes a few minutes to get out and you have the Yorkshire Dales on yer doorstep.
Any population centre of more than 500 houses is a sh!thole.
Guess I'm a country boy at heart. ;D 8) :P
My sister lives in Harrogate (overpriced, "upmarket" sh!thole) and my Mum lives in a tiny village about 10 miles north of there.
I know which I would choose to live in.
I envy you people Ooop North. You have some of the best biking roads in the UK on yer doorstep,... and very little traffic.
Essex on the other hand is an overcrowded sh!thole full of the most incompetent drivers in the UK.
I head to Suffolk for my pleasure rides but if time is short, there is a good, empty-ish road from Latchingdon to Bradwell that is good for a brief (10 minute) blast.
Time and money permitting I head for the South of France to Var where the roads are empty (and twisty) and the police are few and far between. ;D
Mr Boom .... I do enjoy reading your forthright views ... have you ever thought of a career in Politics ???????
I live in a city where 5 mins from my door are some of the best roads you can bike on.especially since the motor ways have come in because now the old main roads are empty and well surfaced with wide open bends.
Boomer, what a reserved Gent he is. It's official I live in a shit hole, in fact everybody I know and have ever known is in it with me. ;D
looked ok to me when i used to pick the daily mail up from there but it was 3am in morning ;D
There are some harsh comments coming through thick and fast now.........keep it up! ;D
Sorry if my comments offended anyone but I have been forced to work in "The Stink" for many years.
My abiding memories are of being squashed into a stinky out of date transport(Tube/Train/Bus) system, of people barging and pushing me whilst walking down the pavement, and I'm 6'4" and 25 Stone so imagine how more normal sized people must get treated, of constant beggars and hawkers and other sales types wanting "just a few minutes" of my time, of overcrowded overpriced pubs, of constant noise and the stink of exhaust fumes and fast food outlets and the stink of coffee from the ubiquitous coffee junkie outlets. <shudder>
Where I live is not much better. It's less crowded but still not pleasant.
As for me becoming a politician,.... I'm not allowed to. I'm an anarchist and we don't believe in it. ;D
I dont think anyone was offended, I'm the first to agree that my home town is an undesirable location. I've just had the dogs out over Ilkley Moors, 20 miles or so from where I live, its a different world there. As I slowly drove back towards Bradford you cant help but notice the deprivation creeping in around you. :(
Bradford gets bit of a bad rep. The outskirts are lovely. My mate lives in BD5 and that is a dump. Unfortunately, it's the deprived areas that pop to the mind when thinking of Bradford

I actually feel a lot better now, knowing that someone lives in a worse area of Bradford than me!! ;D

Regrettably, YES!!
Then you know that Bradford ain't the worst place.....i was there for 10 years...explains why i live darn sarf' ::)
I lived in London for 5 years on and off. Explains why I'm back up norf.
Rochdale is a dump. I once got slated on Facebook for calling Oldham a dump. So the next day I took some pics and posted them online ;D Didn't get any arguments after that. Pity because both are next to the Pennines.
Manchester is also a dump.
Apologies if your town/city hasn't been slated in this thread. Let us know where you live and we can have a go ;D
Bracknell!!
Dump!! ;D
I think I'll stick to living out in the sticks of pembrokeshire, quiet roads, lovely scenery and beaches and the native are fairly friendly too, only problem is silly season and holiday makers are about to clutter up the roads as Easter approaches
