hi all
new to the forum,i have a problem with clutch causing quite a bit of vibration when i pull the clutch lever in the grumbling stops.
could this be a worn bearing or maybe the clutch just needs bleeding.
Welcome to the forum,
What is your bikes history, ...what is its age, and what mileage has it covered, has it been regularly serviced ?
It could, as you say just be in need of adjustment, is the grumbling noise recent and does it sound metallic ?
the bike's just over 3years old with 7000mls on the clock, i've had it about 4months,i took it back the other week to get the head bearing tightened up and while i was there i mentioned it to the mechanic and he said when i pulled the clutch lever in this took up the slack and that's why the grumbling stops which i thought was a load of tosh.
it's definitely a metallic noise which disappears when you pull the clutch lever in, i'll have a go at bleeding the system this weekend and see if it makes a difference.
i thnk you will find that all bikes have a rumbeling noise when the engines are running i used to think it was a worn bearing then when you pull in the clutch it goes away, all my kawasaki's have done this even my new zzr .unless it is really noisey i wouldn't worry about it try and compare it with another bike,to see if it is the same as yours.

TBH its very difficult to diagnose without actually hearing the noise.
If your mechanic is competent, and at a dealer, then I wouldn't be too worried, there is inevitably noise coming from the clutch area which will change or even disappear when the clutch is engaged/disengaged.
If all the levels are correct and the clutch is functioning correctly without any drag then it should be okay
Most Kwaks have a rumble from the clutch. Its the clutch release bearing that is spinning freely when the lever is out and only takes up load when the lever is pulled in. As long as the clutch still operates smoothly with no slipping, juddering etc then I would say you mechanic is correct "They all do it" Don't bother bleeding the system, its not going to change that noise

Hi fairweatherbiker, I think the advice Burchy as said is spot on, i have clutch rumble on both my bikes ( GTR and Hayabusa ) which disappears when i pull the clutch lever in, so if its just the normal clutch rumble noise dont worry about it and bleeding the clutch wont make and differance. JUST RIDE MAN :biker3:
cheers for the advice guys i've just bled the system and it has'nt made any difference so i'll stop worrying and start riding.
Another one here to back up the don't worry about it brigade.
I used to worry about the same thing on my Varadero, you think the GTR is bad... you should hear some Honda clutches rumble, I replaced the clutch plate bearing and it helped a bit but not a lot.... so unless its a really mechanical noise that persists when you put some pressure on the clutch lever just put some ear plugs in and learn to ignore it.
It's usually only noticeable at idle anyway as when your riding the revs are usually high enough to drown out the noise.
It sounds even worse when your helmets off and your listening for it...
It can be a bit disconcerting till you get used to it.
You should hear the noise coming from my classics.....it takes you back to the days when noise was part of the 'charm' of biking :mfr_lol:
OC .... :mfr_lol: Just like the BM's at work .... Let the clutch out just a smidgen and they " grumble " lots !
