Title: video editing
Post by: O.C. on March 26, 2013, 08:11:42 PM
I know its been asked before but which editing facility/library site is the best and easiest to use to edit film taken on my GoPro. I would like to add sound tracks and maybe edit in/out sections etc

I'm a novice with that kind of stuff and don't really know which site is the best to use although I did look into using Vimeo on one occasion and never managed to work out how it functions

Any recommendations would be appreciated

The common law son in law is well into all this stuff and in fact has his own company doing it but he uses a Mac rather than Microsoft, I presume your using Windows? If so he won't be much help.

I have used Windows Live Movie Maker, which is part of Windows 7, to do basic editing like changing start/finish points, adding music and captions, changing resolution etc. It works well, is quite intuitive, and is free.

I also purchased Sony Vegas (around £70 IIRC) to create picture in picture videos, using multiple cameras. Again, works well, but is significantly more complicated to use as it is so feature rich. Once I got my head around how the software works, it became easier.

That's correct Alan, I'm on windows.

I don't want to get too involved with any complicated systems as I'm a self confessed Luddidite with this stuff  :mfr_lol:

Cheers Martin, I'll look into that it seems very appealing cos its free  :mfr_lol:

If its a basic type system it should suit my basic type brain

Me!  Think! Not very often, but if by chance you had been using a Mac then help was at hand.

Oh well back on my head.

Rog, I use Pinnacle Studio HD. It's easy to use and it allows you to do everything you have mentioned and more. I use Windows Vista and it works fine but you do need a high end PC.

Ahhh you see I can share some of my poor limited knowledge with PowerDirector 10

I used this last year..... to do the videos on my youtube channel

I also don't have a problems with this windows rubbish - it works (badly) for a large percentage of the world!  what else can go wrong?  ;-)

Hi

For simple basic stuff I tend to use Nero Video. Apart from being simple and straight forward to use it comes bundled as part of the Nero suite of programs for creating/copying DVD's and CD's and backup's. It comes with various transitions + other effects, royality free music and it works well with Windows 7 and 8.

Kind regards

Steve
