Title: A shaggy dog story for all us dog lovers.
Post by: Lonewolf on March 20, 2013, 07:22:02 PM
My wife has always said that I can find trouble or trouble will find me, well today, I'm minding my own business having just arrived in the local woods to walk my two hounds when a dog walker tells me that someone is looking for their lost Springer Spaniel. The dog had been lost already for 24 hours, stranded overnight in freezing conditions with snow, that was all the motivation I needed! I've walked these woods almost daily for over a decade so I know a lot of the nooks & crannies.

Twenty minutes later approximately, searching in the most obvious place I could think of where a dog could get into trouble I saw by sheer fluke the little monster high up on a cliffe ledge having fallen over the edge. This part of the woods is a place where nobody goes as its in a gully with no exit. Basically nobody would have ever found the guy.

Time to call in the Fire Brigade as there's no way I can climb up there. The Fire Brigade then used an expanding tube to capture the dog and then lower it to the ground.

The odd's on the Springer falling exactly where it did and not a metre either side undoubtedly saved the chap's life.

Finally lowered to the ground and returned to it's eager owners. A very emotional moment for everyone involved.

He was moving that fast the pics are a bit blurry of him and given half a chance he'd have probably been off again!

Owner & Springer reunited & getting a pat from the Fire Officer who rescued him. No injuries, just cold, wet & hungry.

I still can't understand how I found the dog so quickly, it wasn't barking, it only growled a little as I approached it with my dogs. It's a sight I'll never forget rounding the rock face and seeing the Springer's little head pop up to see who was approaching.

Huge respect to the Fire Service in how they dealt with this, absolute professionals.

Stare at the rock/tree that is leaning backwards just to the right of the tree, there is a bloke looking up at the dog, also I have just noticed a little angel on the floor inbetween the rock/tree and the bloke.  No I haven't gone bonkers     STARE  at it.

OK,  Look at the crevice where the dog is sat, at the far left of that crevice there is a split in the rock face going all the way down to the "Blokes" head,  STARE at it.           Then just below the blokes head is a little angel stood on the floor (Watching over the dog I reckon) come on everybody LOOK.

The problem with old people when they're house bound due to weather is they have far toooooo much spare time on their hands.  :whistling:  Ok, I'll agree, (possibly), that the first picture might show the crude outline of a person formed from the rocks, but as for an Angel I can't see anyhting. Perhaps I haven't been smoking the same brand of green vegetable matter as the guys up in The Lakes & Leyburn.

However as I said earlier in this thread I can't understand how I found the dog in about 20 minutes when the owners had been looking since 10am the previous day. I just went more or less straight to him which was weird, very weird. The particular date I found the dog was a special day, an anniversary of the death of a very close family member and you never know they could have been watching over me and guiding me.....stranger things have happened.

Yer all a bunch of ageing hippies.
Angels,..... divine guidance,.......

Chances are your dogs heard it from about half a mile away and decided to guide you there so they could check it out.
Ever seen a dog herd sheep? Well, now you can just say Baaaaaaa!  :mfr_lol:

Steve "Crude outline" bloody hell it's as plain as the nose on your face. Try again.      Right!!!!!   the rock that is leaning back next to the tree.          The very tip of it is a flat cap, you can then see his face  and ear,  and his hair and  a beard, you can also see his neck, chest, and right arm. He is looking directly at the dog. I reckon that a combination of the man and the angel were looking after the dog until Steve arrived. And no I dont do mind altering drugs, potions and such like. Sometimes things just happen.        Can you see him yet?  Oh Steve,  the angel is almost directly underneath the blokes head on the floor.

This is weird, the more I look at this the more I see. I can now see an Aliens head and face directly behind the angel.

Geoff, yeah your'e right, I've looked really hard and can you see that to the right of the dog on the ledge is a stone chisel & mallet and more importantly can you see that the dog has created an exact duplicate of Mount Rushmore to keep himself occupied whilst he was being rescued, I've zoomed in on the masterpiece in the shadows of the ledge to make it easier for all to see, here it is.....

Please, give me strength!!
