Title: The night before the day after
Post by: KeVstrom on March 12, 2013, 09:29:04 PM
Well im weather watching intently. Travelling from Newcastle at around 8am, down A1 to A66 then west to Brough and  Kirkby Stephen then onto the M6 for Junc32 to Preston. At the moment, there no major issues with the snow but it seems to change on a hourly basis. So all i can do is weather watch and pray that when morning comes, its clear for the journey.

Am i excited?   not as much as this banana

Couldnt sleep. Been up since about 5am like an excited kid at xmas (or Hanukkah Holiday Armadillo depending on your persuasion). Quick weather check out the window and its clear, roads are damp with morning dew, slight frost on screens but nothing bad. Online check and Richmond, Brough, Preston appears good. So off back to my house via McDs for a horse breakfast.

Nom nom

If you had been riding a Yellow Vstrom you would be there by now, 'cos they ARE the fastest.

Rusty is right, think of those hot grips!

Yo Kev, no problem standing me up :2guns: :hammer: Swine.        No really Im just glad you are happy. Did you have the screen up or down?, sometimes if it's too far up it can have the effect that you mention. I have mine right down, coz I want to feel like I am riding a motor bike. Any how Roger turned up at the bridge plus a few more of my mates so no problem, lots of folk to chin wag too.                     Did you use the ECO mode ?.                 Glad that you are pleased with the bike , it will get much better when the weather is better and you are more used to it. Enjoy it

Phew! finally home safe and well, a bit cold, so running a bath to get warmed up. Im in no rush to go back outside so the bikes gonna have to stay dirty for a day. Geoff, the ECO mode was on, it was just like that when i was riding part throttle, i dont know yet how to set it ON or OFF.

Had a flappy arse cheek moment when coming up the A1 past Darlo/Newton Aycliffe cos we ended up riding thru a blizzard! Lucky thou as it didnt last too long but the A1 was starting to cover.

We had a quick stop again at Kirkby Stephen but needed to get back incase the weather turned

Geoff, the ECO mode was on, it was just like that when i was riding part throttle, i dont know yet how to set it ON or OFF.

To turn ECO mode on (or off again) you have to press and hold the display change button down for about a second. Once it is on you will see the ECO icon - not just the three rings on the dash. The rings always come on when your fuel consumption is low (i.e. half throttle or less) regardless if ECO mode is turned on or not. By default ECO mode is turned off when you start the bike so unless you turned it on it was probably not on at all.

Thanks for that. Ill check it out tomorrow, for today, im all biked out! 300 mile round trip out in the cold, minus 1 at times, isnt ideal but im glad i got her bought and back home. Now im chilling, big time!

First opinions thou, fast, smooth, stable, lovely to ride and sounds amazing! the Vees twin engine can be jerky off the throttle so it really nice compared.

Thanks all for the posts and thanks for making me feel welcome. I will officially introduce myself once i get my bearings
