Just seen this on You Tube from someone I subscribe to. A very lucky & quick thinking individual!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-HAkqw4UcY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-HAkqw4UcY)
And this is from the SUV's point of view, the occupants of whom thought it was :censored: funny.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfKi604_CEE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfKi604_CEE)
- the GoPro generation X
- amazing reflexes and control by the motorcyclist.
- and people wonder why we're paranoid.
.
Phew that was tooooo close for comfort
Drivers like that should be de-bollocked
I find it almost impossible to comprehend that the :censored: in that vehicle actually thought that was funny, I am truly astonished
So, we have a dick on a bike (too fast round a blind corner) and a dick in a car (wrong side of the road approaching a blind corner).
They are both very lucky. Yes the Biker would probably have died but the bike and/or rider would have injured the SUV occupants.
Ask any of the police on here, When dick meets dick you normally need a sponge to clean up the mess.
Have to say I don't think the bike did anything wrong - can't even assess the speed and so what, he's on his own side of the road well within the lines.
The SUV driver however wants sorting with a ragmans trumpet. Had it been a juggernaut would they have been laughing...
I agree with Boomer on this one.
It is because of situations like that why I always ride at speeds that allow me to safely stop within the distance I can see the road in front of me.
And it doesn't have to be idiots that cause 'close shaves' like that.
Could be a rock fall, animals on the road, a broken down car or an accident.
What if the biker had hit that car? The guy following him, who IMHO was also going way to fast, would have piled in as well.
If you want to show off go on a track day but don't do stunts like that on a public road!
Nothing wrong with going round a corner close to the limit if you can see where you are going but not on a blind corner like that?
Hang on!
Being able to stop on your own side of the road in the distance you can see to be clear is the mantra to use.
However road craft will also tell you that a hazard to be dealt with is something that can be seen or cannot be seen but reasonably be expected.
A car on a blind bend on your side of a flowing national limit road is not something you could reasonably expect to occur.
I am not a supporter of jock-rocket riders/riding, but that rider is in no way at fault
I am going to join in on this one ...
The SUV is on the wrong side of the road full stop. He's on the wrong side of the road concentrating on a couple of goons skating down the mountain. He's on the wrong side of the road not paying attention.
The bike is on the right side of the road, yes he's quick but that is in no way an unsafe ride IMHO .... and to pull it up and not hit the c*** in the SUV is in my book pretty good going.
There you go for what it's worth that's what Mr Rusty thinks !
And I fully agree
Mr Rusty & Mr Smith are both of course correct. The SUV driver and passenger are ACTUALLY LAUGHING about what almost happened!! They are JOKING about putting their clip on You Tube!
I think many people would have turned around, caught up with the SUV & slotted the pair. :2guns:
I would like to add my two penneth worth  I can see were mecki and boomer are coming from here  only riders who have a death wish take blind bends to fast and I've seen a few do exactly that! nine times out of ten they will get away with it. but to point the obvious out.. it only takes broken down car, animal, pedestrian or the slippy stuff you don't see in time or the miss daisy driver and your in right in the :shit: if you can't stop in time or sweive due to on coming vehicles. I can recall a few times I've gone round a blind bend and been met by a slow or broken down vehicle and more recently on the horseshoe pass a few sheep which they are the worst because even if you can slow down enough and go round the buggers they tend to run the way you turn :sweatdrop: but the biker in the clip wasn't going that fast for the bend or the conditions and was well within the centre lines. I would say he was riding well within his capabilities, he had enough time to see the vehicle and take evasive action initally hard braking, because he was on a lean angle and seen a safe cap to run through, he has released the pressure on the brakes and took the clear exit  looks like a very experienced ride to me  top marks to the guy  the driver and passenger of the vehicle on the wrong side of the road need stringing up from the nearest lampost
I cant agree that the bike rider was going too fast, If he had have been he would have hit that :asshole: in that car, although we dont know what happened to him after he had avoided the car, for all we know he could have :censored: ed somebody coming the other way, as he must have been completely off line after missing the car, therefore crossing to the other side of the road. And once you do that your fate is in the lap of the gods. My main gripe remains that those :censored: :asshole: in the car thought that the fact that they had almost killed somebody was somehow funny. And the bloke behind the wheel is obviously a tragedy looking for somewhere to happen.
Geoff I think we can safely assume the bike rider was fine as he posted his video on You Tube! :whistling:
 ah yes silly me :embarrassed: But he defo was NOT going to fast. And the car cretin wants stringing up.
I have been mixing this clip up with another one that I have been following on you tube, where the rider just disapears down the side of the car.
He's 75 ya know, ya have to make allowances for him. :whistling:
You cheeky young upstart :hammer:

Sounds like a good idea, us Northern numptys welcome all suverners, mard arses, shandy drinkers, hoover pushing non winter riding nancy boys  :whistling: to our fantastic part of the world, that the good lord created just so that we could ride motorbikes all around it. If you need any pointers about biking in gods own country ask Big Alan, I think him and his buddies rather enjoyed themselves on there biking experience !up norf !last summer. I'm sure that myself and my castle dwelling mate Roger could find some spiffing roads, scenery, and bacon butties for you lads to enjoy. Get it sorted, and go home doing this    Oh, and as an added attraction the pink armbands may make a guest appearance .
Geoff, sounds great to me, one thing though. I've only been with the forum a couple of months, whats all this about pink armbands?
Oh yes the pink armbands, I wear them in the summer time on my black jacket,( flo yellow for winter), and when I first met some of the boys off here they were extremely cruel to me(Bully boys) :hammer: regarding my pink armbands, in fact they ripped the p :censored: s out of me. One in particular who shall remain nameless( It was Steve Lonewolf ) has been on my case about the pinkness of my armbands ever since, but, being of advanced years( I'm 65 ya know) I have learned not to let younger folk upset me, so now I wear the world famous armbands just for spite. The upside of all this is the fact that I have turned into some kind of motorcycling legend, and my fame is spreading like wildfire. I can see the day dawning when I make guest appearances at motorcycle events, and have famous folk asking if they can come on a follow the pink armbands tour, of course at this stage I must mention a man who without him none of this could have happened, a man who I refer to as my " Rear gunner" Yes step forward Roger ( old coney). So that in a nutshell is the legend of the pink armbands, I do hope you are still awake!!!! but you did ask.
Still awake, and at least i now know what all the references to pink armbands are.
You say that people on this forum took the piss out of you over them, i must say i'm stunned....People on here just don't seem the type. :-D
Maybe I'll get to follow the famous armbands someday
