Still the best looking and most effective fender extender you can buy for your Concours - GTR 1400. Very OEM in appearance.
I designed these and mold them using 1/8" thick ABS plastic. The color as you can see is black and they have a textured surface that goes well with the rest of the bikes black trim.
By the way, I mold these at home in my garage as a means to fund my own riding, not a business just a part time hobby
The purpose of the fender extender is to protect your radiator from damage and also protect the lower bodywork as well as the area where the pipes and oil filter are.
The Stock fender is ABS plastic, so installation involves removing the fender and gluing the extender in place using ABS glue. No screws or rivets needed for a clean look.
The extender will stay in place and do it's job. Installation instructions are included.
The price is $45 US which includes mailing to your address. There are now hundreds of these in service all over the world.
Send me a private message or an e-mail and you can order using paypal.
Overseas shipping can be arranged. Tha cost quoted is for orders in Canada or the US. Overseas rates are higher and include delivery via small package airmail. Send me a message for details.
The rear fender extender serves to increase the size and effectiveness of the stock rear fender helping to keep the rear of the bike clean. Price of the rear is $60 US.
A package price can be had for front and rear ordered and shipped at once.
I'll post pictures and you can contact me for details if you would like to place an order.
Larry.
By the way this front fender extender also fits the Kawasaki ZX14 sportbike. I round the bottom edge off a little for a sportier look however the ZX14 like the GTR 14 has a vulnerable radiator.
I'll post a picture also of a ZX14 with the extender fitted.
And the rear.
Is the rear one rivited?
Does the cost include shipping to the UK?
Thanks
Alan
I can highly recommend the rear extender. Bought one from Larry last year and have been very pleased with its performance of keeping the rear of the bike much cleaner. Believe Debs has one also. :punk:
I've seen these before on the US forum but didn't know how to broach the subject of buying them. I personally think they're brilliant, give us a price including postage if you can for the UK and I'm sure the orders will be forthcoming.
I think these are the dogs danglies also. If available in the uk I will buy a pair.
Having just had to wash loads of salt off all over the back and sides today, I could definetely be interested

Yes I do have the rear one..
Glad you like them.
Nice to see some pictures posted from others who have them fitted prior to this.
I have sent these all over the globe.
I can send both as a package deal to anyone in the UK for $140 US. This includes airmail from here in Canada which takes approximately a week give or take.
To other countries cost may vary.
Just send me a personal message or e-mail and I will give you paypal info.
Thanks all
Larry.
The front is installed by gluing as the Kawasaki front fender is made from ABS plastic, as is the fender extender. ABS (ABS plastic specific-NOT epoxy) glue holds it permanently in place.
The Kawasaki rear fender is made of Polypropylene so the ABS extender can't be glued to it. Installation involves pop rivets with backing washers which I supply.
Instructions included for both.
Sorry ,modification to my post above to answer questions
Larry, what price do you put on the export label?
Depending how much you say they are worth on the label will depend on how much import tax & duty we have to pay to receive.. The lower the better :whistling: :mfr_lol:

Cool Alan.. Take your time fitting it..
You dont have to take the assembly off to fit it but removing the number plate will help. Would be best if someone is with you to keep an eye on it when drilling the holes for the rivits so you dont put it on at a slight angle..

This is all true, however I prefer the removal of the rear fender. As per pictures in my installation sheet. It makes fitting the extender easier, especially by yourself and easier riveting as well.
Larry.
Just checked my front fender extender which I believe is a Pyramid Plastics one.... a good 3" shorter at a guess... so a pair for 105 USD looks a good bet.... just placed my order

An update. In sending out orders today I was given a surprise at the post office. Canada post basically changed their rates and practices regarding overseas packages and other services.
Prior to this the rate for an overseas air package was good. To the UK for a front and rear extender was about $28 Canadian.
Now as of today the rate has gone up substantially.
The package weight rules have changed also. To qualify for affordable airmail rates the package has to be less than 500 grams in weight. The package with 2 fender extenders is around 640 grams.
What was $28 is now $40
If I can reduce the package weight to under 500 grams it will still be affordable.
As I include the shipping this is a big hit. As a result I had to ship one package today using a slower service method for the affordable rate.
I will be attempting to get the package weight down to the needed weight.
If you want to order now, I can still do the $105 for front and rear (usually $150 ordered separately)
I may have to bump the price in the near future to reflect the change.
Sending the packages by air makes delivery time reasonable, surface service is much slower.
One good bit of news for me, I purchased a large quantity of plastic today, and the price of that has not gone up.
Thanks for the words of praise on my extenders and thanks for the orders.
I appreciate it all.
Larry.
Larry.... I've managed without your fenders since I got the bike last September... so to wait a little longer is no big deal ... look forward to getting them
Thanks for the update Larry, if the shipping cost of my item needs to be increased then let me know the difference and I'll send some more dosh to cover the extra

First thanks for the patience Bryn. The wait will be long but worth it in the end
The problem lies in the weight of the 2 shipped together. One alone is well under the magic weight so no problem.
I tried to trim the weight of the package, no luck.
In any case the whole thing is still manegable .
I think that instead of $105 it will be $135 from this point forward.
That will still allow a good deal, less than the $150 ordered seperately and cover the new shipping cost for faster airmail delivery.
So, the choice can be yours  $105 US for slow surface mail delivery, or $135 for faster airmail delivery. (Again this is for the front and rear ordered together)That should cover the UK as well as other countries over that way.
Larry.

Sure thing, I'll PM you the details.
Larry.
I have had one of Larry's front extenders for 18 months or more now, really good bit of kit.
It pays to take a little care positioning it when glueing, my first attempt meant it finished very close to the V at the bottom of the fairing front edges, but a little more effort got it far enough away that there is no risk of them touching under braking.
Great product, thanks Larry.
Martin.
Like the look of these fender extenders, but how awkward does it make it to get back wheel in and out when changing tires?

It makes it a little more awkward, but most people will used a bike lift that has the removable plate under the rear wheel so it isn't an issue.
Also having the bike on the centerstand taking off the front and rear wheels the bike will tip forward enough that again it isn't a problem. Done it several times.
The function of the rear extender makes the small inconvenience worthwhile.

I sure hope it isn't 8-12 weeks, I could probably got them there faster by rowboat  Rediculous really, all because a package weighed more than 500 grams. The extra cost may be worth it for future orders. Gotta love Canada Post :nono:
It will be worth the wait.
Here in Edmonton we are approaching the first day of spring.
This morning I had to shovel a path through 20 cm of new snow so our little miniature weiner dogs could get out to do their morning duties
Edit...A quick call to the post office for their official take on delivery - 4-6 weeks.

Mine arrived safely, only £9 import duty/vat. Robbing post office charged £8 for the privilege of paying them to pay customs. Not your fault, but Grrrrrrr.
Both fitted. I installed the rear with button topped screws (bolts to most people ), washers and nyloc nuts, so I have the option to remove if needed.
Great product, and makes a GTR model suitable for riding in all weathers ... as it should have been from the factory.

how did you fix the front one?

how did you fix the front one?
ABS / PVC Glue as per the instructions from Blue One. Over here it's better known as Solvent Pipe Weld from most plumbing suppliers. Be careful with fumes and how much you use! It effectively melts the two together.
Only me doing it so couldn't clamp it quick enough, so had some practice runs then slapped some on each piece, waited a minute or so, then put them together ... then sat on the shed floor holding them in place until my hands seized up. End result they are one. Alignment pretty good. Slight difference in the gap either side to tyre, maybe 2mm diff, but as you can't see both sides at the same time not a problem (and only I know  ).
Glad to hear it all went well  The instructions call for clamps, not hand clamps
Good thinking on making the rear removable. The only drawback to that is not being able to seal the seam on the inside with RTV silicone, keeping dirty water from leaking through the seam. I also recommend sealing the inside seam on the front extender after gluing for the same reason. Keeping dirty water out from between the pieces is best.
Larry.
I too used the solvent pipe weld, I actually use this stuff on a weekly basis when im doing kitchen plumbing, used it on the front fender and due to the type of plastics used It took about an hour to go solid, on plumbing abs material it takes about 10 seconds, sound as a pound now tho!
Yes, ABS glue is a solvent cement and most commonly used in plumbing for ABS drainage piping. Plumbing supply shops are the best source even over on our side of the world
Contrary to instructions some have tried to install my fender extenders with other glues and epoxies or even two sided sticky tape.
They and their fender extenders soon parted company
Larry you should have mail

Not had any rain yet so don't know if it would be a problem. Just in case I've re-installed adding a 1mm thick strip of rubber sandwiched between the original guard and the extender. I'll let you know how it goes ... bound to rain soon.

I had my front fender extender held on with silicon sealant. It was on for more than 2 years and still there when I sold her.. Drilling and putting either screws or rivets makes it look terrible. My front fender extender on my new baby has been fitted by previous owner and he screwed them on.. :hammer:

Yes, and the reason that you have to use bolts or rivets on your rear (your bikes rear ) fender is that unlike the front which is molded from ABS plastic, the rear fender is made from Polypropylene plastic which most glues don't bond to worth crap.
So since the rear fender extender is also ABS and being mated to Polypropylene, you need to rivet your rear
my rear is riveted with the parts you supplied, they are very descreet and look fine, my front is glued, however my old front fender was silicone on for a few years and held fine. When it became damaged I was able to prise it away and fit this new one!

Not had any rain yet so don't know if it would be a problem. Just in case I've re-installed adding a 1mm thick strip of rubber sandwiched between the original guard and the extender. I'll let you know how it goes ... bound to rain soon.
Just an update, the rubber strip works a treat, no water leaks through. 5 minute job now to remove the rear extender so the back wheel will come out (without a wheel drop area).

That's great, glad it worked out well.
If you had wanted these under your tree  The orders should have been placed sooner. That is no problem however, I have plenty ready to go even if they arrive after Christmas
Front and rear extenders ready to go. Current price to any UK or other international locations is $140 US for both front and rear which includes Airmail cost. Takes about a week or so give or take for delivery.
Larry.
The latest order sent to Ireland
I have a large box full ready to ship off so let me know what you need.
Larry.

Exactly, that is it. Thanks.
Larry.
The fender extenders are in stock ready to go.
Prices are still the same.
Send me a message to place an order.
Larry.
And well worth the price as I have the rear one, great quality and fits spot on.
Alan
Recent orders shipped and 2016 will soon be here. If Santa brought you a new bike, you need some goodies for it.
Hi Larry, your front and rear fender extenders are probably the best bit of kit I've ever fitted to a bike. The rear extender makes all the difference riding in the rain (UK summer ) Not sure if you realise this but the GTR (Concourse) and the Kawasaki Versys 1000 share the same rear fittings so your rear extender should fit the Versys as well. I made one modification to the fitting and use number plate (nylon screws and bolts) to secure the fender. This makes it easy to remove when you want to take the rear wheel out. Keep up the good work. Steve C

Look very nice. What does the rear extender do. I can see the benefif of the front extender and the rear hugger as these stops water, stones and shit doing any damage, but the rear exrender is passed the point of any rubbish ? Might sound a silly question, but a reasonable one for me who don't know.
Thanks

The rear fender extender turns the small thin triangular fender into a real working effective fender. The extra width and length contain some of the spray helping to keep the dirt and grime off the back of the bike.
It also goes a long way towards helping keep the passenger dryer and cleaner when riding 2 up with the saddlebags in place.
It also reduces the spray to the rear of the bike and stops throwing rocks at other riders or drivers.
Larry.
How much is the rear shipped to the UK please?

Get both, the rear is sooooo much better than what you can get here, saves a heap of crap going over the rear of your bike.

For some reason which I don't understand the pictures I initially posted were gone. I don't get it, it is stupid, because I posted pictures directly without an image hosting site which causes pictures to disappear.
In any case I have re-posted some pictures on the first page.
I still make these and have them available for anyone who needs them.
2020 is here and I'm still here. Fender extenders available.
