I had a nice ride out today up the West Coast to a favourite cafe of mine where the grub and  facilities are very good.

It was a bit strange as it was the first proper ride out on my GTR since last September due to illness etc., and I was really looking forward to it, the strange thing is that yesterday I had a ride out to Coniston and Hawleshead, on my 1960 BSA with a pal of mine, so getting into the swing of the GTR with its superb power, brakes and handling was really odd after having spent the day yesterday changing gear (1 up 3 down) on the right hand side and using the rear brake (cos its better than the front and works the rear brake light) on the left side, any how I managed to adjust fairly quickly, and it wasn't long before that well known smile that GTR owners enjoy was all over my face again. AWESOME !

It was a lovely day up here today although temperatures didn't get above 7 degrees it wasn't too windy and the ride was excellent as was the cuppa and sausage bun at the Byre Cafe.

Here's a picture and you can see there's still a little bit of snow on the tops in the background

What did anyone else get up to and  where did ya go ?

Managed to get in 100 or so miles yesterday with my nipper on his new(to him0 2004 ZX10.  Around Hampshire and Wiltshire taking in Loomies Cafe and Hill Top cafe at Salisbury.  Bit salty but weather was fine and roads not too busy.  Excellent way to get to know the bikes

OC, I see you have a Laminer Lip on that superb green machine of yours. Any good? I'm thinking of putting one on mine. I'm only 5'9 but don't half get a buffering.

I have one and I am 6' 3" and there excellent value, i can ride with the screen right up and it's bliss with the visor up in the warm weather, and so much better when it's persisting down.

Andy... I have one but its my 2nd as the first one flew off at speed on the M20. Ive now bolted the 2nd one on with flush button head bolts & rivet nuts:

I wouldn't be without it.

I'm very pleased with it. I had a 'visor' fitted to a previous GTR and that didn't work quite as well as the lip.

TBH the Laminar Lip doesn't stop all the wind noise, but I don't actually want it to, I reckon that you need some noise when riding otherwise you might as well take the car

On Sunday I did a 110 mile loop around Chelmsford mostly on back roads.
It's my first real ride since before Xmas.
Was a bit nippy and the roads are covered in sand but I was in bimble mode rather than BANZAI mode.
Even then I managed a couple of rear wheel drifts coming out of corners, but nothing scary, just a nice predictable slide.
Fun was had, stopped at a friends for natter and then headed home.
Looking forward to better weather so I can start ranging farther afield.
