Title: standard of services
Post by: knightraider on February 02, 2013, 08:17:11 PM
I have had a conversion today about the standard of the GTR servicing by the dealers.

Who said that he knew a person from a Kawasaki dealership, (i don't know the shop or area involved).

He stated that they leave the bikes in a corner and just go over the basics and clean them and squirt a bit of oil here and there, and charge the expensive rates of the service.

To me, this is just hearsay and don't know how true it is, but as a precaution just be aware of this and i don't know how it could be proved if the work has been done or not.

Has anybody had any experience of this.

Glen

Take no notice Glen... I would say thats just hearsay.

Ive seen my bike in bits when its been in for a service etc... Bournemouth Kawasaki are one of the good dealerships though..

Even the after care from themselves and Kawasaki UK is top notch

If this does happen (and I'm sure there is the odd rogue) then word of mouth would spread like wildfire. This happened to an Exeter dealer about 12 years ago with a "doctored" bike from bike magazine. I'll stick with Bournemouth Kawasaki or if I'm rushed GT in Plymouth. Both these guys I trust.

Kawasaki Autorama do a great job, and its always possible to actually see the technician working on the bike

Same down here, Premier bikes in Didcot will allow you to talk to the technician (usually Mark) and see what he does, first class service.

Same over here (US).  It's very difficult to find a decent dealer with good techs.  That's one area where I wish Kawasaki would exert more control....assuming they want to fix it.  Thank goodness their bikes aren't trouble prone.

I appreciate they have had some mixed comments on here, but I use LLoyd Cooper in Watford and have been very happy with them.

So true Jim, I guess the problem is for your local dealer to keep staff, especially after they have been trained to manufacturer standards and they then realise they can get another job with more pay elsewhere

Alf's in Worthing West Sussex ... top drawer dealer ... you can watch your service being carried out from a viewing gallery above the workshop whilst drinking free tea or coffee loafing on their sofa reading their free up to date bike magazines .............. or take a break and pop over the road to the Cafe for a big fry up and waddle back to the sofa ! :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

We could use one of those over here, although if I were the tech, I don't think I would want the clients breathing down my neck, albeit from afar.  Especially someone with a camera.

Thanks for all your positive replies.

I now know when mine is due for a service, it will be done competently.
