I've just been into the garage... stared lovingly at it...and checked the tyre pressures .. roll on summer :ohplease:
+1
Taken it in for a 24000 mile service.
Borrowed a ZZR1400 for the day.
Not a practical bike for touring, perhaps, but that engine is superb. 6th gear roll-on from 70 to stupid speed in silly time. Pity the GTR can't do this as I wouldn't bother changing gear to overtake and could be even more relaxed.
Oh ... 1Ka let us know how much the 24000 mile service is .. Mine is due later this year .. I think it's a big one ...
Ive not done anything on baby today as waiting for more connectors to be delivered..

My 48k Service & Shims was £850. That was a BIG one...
Changed the air filter to a K&N version.

You managed it then? Any problems?
Nope, steady as it went and all ok.
Onwards and upwards.

After 2 days of riding to/from work in the rain, took it out of the garage, washed, polished and put it away again..
Ignored it. Have been at work like most people.
May take it for a ride tomorrow if the roads dry up some.
Took the bike to work and back to blow the cobwebs away
Rode to work and back, same as every day. Good wash and polish over the weekend.
24K Service
Came to £550 including filters, plugs, brake oil, engine oil, coolant & air filter.
Service manual quotes it as 7 hours labour, but they discounted it to 5 hours since I also had front/rear pads and another new rear tyre. All told £850.
Removed the Primary cover, clutch plates and friction plates, re-assembled same, checked with Dial gauge, tried to sort a damaged thread on the Clutch lever grub screw lock nut and couldn't :hammer: drank several cups of tea turned the air blue, and decided that if the weather permits that I'll get the GTR out tomorrow...that seems like a plan
Oh BTW the clutch problems were on the Gold Flash, not the GTR :mfr_lol:

Bloody hell... thought you meant the GTR...was about to kneel before your greatness :punk:
Thank Ka .. I'll do a bit more overtime before I book it in !
I squeezed past the GTR to get the Versys out, we went for a wizz around the Trough-of-Bowland, then had brekkie in Slaidburn, great day, wall to wall sunshine, but really cold.
I squeezed past my GTR today on the way to get meat out of the freezer for Sunday lunch!

if you mean "possible not practical" for touring due to the lack of luggage, then I would have to agree  but I've toured the french, swiz alps and italy and coverd 3,200 miles in 8 days on my 2008 zzr1400 back in 2010 and found it to tour as well as it handled the twisites which the zzr1400 dose both extremely well  this maybe due to me being a short arse so find the zzr1400 fits me just fine  the zzr1400 may be to sport orientated for a rider who is tall or has a beer/pie gut which will reduce the already long reach to the bars and will most likey find the zzr1400 on long distances uncomfortable. "I'm not implying" you are large around the mid section  also I'm certainly not suggesting the zzr is better than the gtr for touring :nono: I've also toured the french/swiz apls and italy on my 2010 gtr august just gone! and coverd 3,100 miles in 8 days and found the gtr to be brillant! infact if carlsberg manufactured touring bikes it would "probably" be the gtr1400  my wife will not go on bike's  she is scared :shit: less of them  but if she did and wanted to go touring with me  I most likely would have not have p/x the gtr for the zzr because she like's to bring her wardrope, hairdryer, makeup. e.t.c when we go on holiday so the luggage capacity on the gtr would come in bloody handy
Prepped GTR for the commute to work and back again. 2 months was long enough!
Been for an 80 mile ride for breakfast.... it was great getting out on it... but a bit chilly
Been working on baby again... wiring nearly finished & side panels now back on..
Having been serviced, I took it out, wrung it's neck and flung it around. It howled and squealed for mercy.
I am a bad. bad, rider.
