My new wiring loom for my accessories is coming along nicely.. Still waiting for a few parts to arrive before I can mount it on my baby.
I have fitted a 6 way plug so the tool box can be taken out. I will also fit a plug on the live wire from the battery
Enjoy the pics
Debs, as we say up North, bang tidy :mfr_lol: .
Just thought Steve... Have I posted this in the right place?
Ideally I suppose it should be in the Accessories, Farkels & Mods section. With your permission I'll move it if you like.
Yes please :)
Hey Debs, nice job its coming along really well, keep at it and post some more pictures when you can
BTW your workshop looks much cleaner and tidier than mine
very inspiring Debs - may even pluck up the courage to have a go myself. I seem to remember you put up a parts list a short time back - any chance of a link to it?
That's nice and neat.
Good way to while away the winter evenings.
After some of the birdsnest wiring I've seen on bikes it's a pleasure to see someone do it right. Thank you Debs.
I rarely use sleeving but do use spiral-wrap in at-risk areas and always leave slack sections to allow for movement.
Extensive use of heat-shrink on connections also seems to help make it reliable.
If I knew what a wiring loom was I would give you the thumbs up Debs !
But you are clearly doing very well from all the comments I see so carry on the good work ....

A Wiring Loom is a multiple set of wires that go from one point and branch off to other parts to power them.. A bit like a branch of a tree.. Thats the basic idea

Debs ... NOW I understand .. thanks ... When I retire and have a bit of time it's on the list for me to "do" some basic DIY courses and electrical courses ... just never had the time or kit or need to do it myself but would really like to tinker with the bike and do my own servicing etc ... very much like 99% on this forum !

The clutch was heavy, in fact heavier than it should be Geoff so I've replaced the springs and at the same time cleaned up the plates to ensure better operation.
Talk about "unreliable" Brit Iron, I'm not so sure that its any worse than owt else in the Rev Shed.....don't forget I've had years of 'unreliable and fragile' 70s triples, so I'm not unfamiliar with fixing bikes at the roadside, I've got holes in the knees of my leathers to prove it :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

OC, Just admit that the holes are from getting on your knees and having to beg to the wife :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
Wife   What's one of them Debs..I had one once in fact I've had two if memory serves me correctly, but now I'm young free and single.......well single anyway.....well not really cos I have my lovely Gillian in my life...and she's a star
Im getting there with the new Loom..
I have now fitted the tool/fuse box back in and ready to connect the loom.
Baby is now in bits so I can get to the mass of wires.. :mfr_lol:
Im going to mount the relays on a alu plate and fix it to the back of the foam [pic 3] then tidy up all the birds nest you see :mfr_lol:
More pics to follow as I proceed
I feel faint ! :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Ive taken it to bits so many times I can do it with my eyes closed :mfr_lol:
Relays mounted and ready for wiring up. Why 5 I hear you ask. The reason for this is that if a relay fails I dont lose the use of other accessories. One relay per wire. There is a spare wire that will not go through a relay as this is for something else.
You da girl Debs
p.s MG will be watching to see if he can pick up any tips :mfr_lol:
Wiring loom fitted & relays all wired up... Now ready to connect all the accessories once I have sorted out the 'birds nest' :mfr_lol: of wires at present.. It will look great when its finished...
Tis looking good Deb's...
Looking like a good job,Debs, but FFS what a lot of work...
I have to say, even though I haven't met you yet... I'm starting to get an image of you... where other women are curled up reading 50 Shades of Grey I can picture you sitting on the sofa with your feet on the coffee table getting your kicks reading a Haynes manual.
Could be wrong though... :innocent:

Lets just say Ive not had a great life & my baby is my life.. Im happy when im tinkering with her or out for a blast on her... Im also a bit of a perfectionist and like things done properly... Ive always been good at practical things but useless and other things.. One thing I dont do is read books.. Dont have the patients to just sit there.. I like to be doing something.. BTW I dont like soaps and I do hate football :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

:agree: :mfr_lol: Thank you
Like I said Debs you da girl
- if you ever have to do this again (horrors) .. you might consider using a proper harness :
.
- then they will turn out like this :
.
- which is safer because there isn't any chance of a short if the relay separated from the spade connector(s).
.
I would have used them if I had known about them.
Me too - any chance of a part number? I have been watching Deb's progress with interest (she's a clever lady) as I'm plucking up the courage to take the plastic off and do some similar work on my steed.
When messing about with cars or bikes, I use these people
http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/home/homepage.php
They stock relay terminal sockets
http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/relays/sockets.php
And corresponding terminals [ socket comes complete, I buy extra terminals 'just in case']
http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/terminalsnonins/noninsblades.php
Terminals are crimped/soldered as Debs has done, but you then insert them into the socket before attaching the relay.
Thanks doebag - now I got to work out the bits and pieces. Been at work too long today so will work it out tomorrow
