- hi fellas (and ladies).
- would appreciate some opinions from the inmates here about the new ZZR1400 (aka , the ZX14R) and esp how the new engine is compared to the one in our GTR.
- things like difference in power , smoothness , vibrations , buzziness , etc.
- and as for the bike itself , how does her handling differ from the GTR's handling in the bendy bits and also during high speed runs.
- thanks.
.
Ive heard on the grapevine from 2kwacks that its :censored: awesome!
There, I hope that answers all your questions. :mfr_lol:
I think it would be unfair to compare the GTR and the ZZR like for like.
the GTR is carrying some 50kg more and 50bhp ish down on power. In my opinion and "recent" experience, and as we have always known to be fair. Most modern day bikes will far out perform its rider whether on the straights or the twisties. Only having done Motogymkhana for over a year, can I say that I have found the limits of the GTR. (and I'm not just talking about getting the pegs down) I'm talking about managing to get both the front end and the rear end completely out of shape and starting to feel the chassis flex beneath you. Pushing the limits of the GTR requires commitment, technique and a bit of luck that you come out of it the other side. its a big bike.
from having a 2011 ZX10R the Traction control on the ZZR is awesome - completely different to the GTR (unless mode 3). and the power is unreal. I test rode the ZZR for about 2 miles to feel it, and took it back straight away cause I knew I would get addicted. I am aiming to buy one next year, just don't tell the other half.
Smoothness and gearbox etc are as you would expect in a modern bike, especially from a Kawasaki 4.
But this was a limited ride. perhaps I need to ride it again! ;-)
Neil
Shame you're not after one now Neil.

Go for this one Pistole
I had a ZZR 1400 in 2007, and it was a missile, (I believe that its even better nowadays), it made my knuckles trail on the ground behind me, I had arms like a bloody Orangutan and a neck like a Giraffe :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
As Debs says go for it Pistole .....you know you want to....remember we're all here for a good time, not a long time
the new zzr 1441 ,is a stunning looking bike, with much power than you will ever need ,it goes around the corners and stops brilliantly, the new engine is really smooth and so responsive,i sold mine last year, i would have another one, unfortunatley i have bought a 2010 busa but wish i had waited as i would have bought the black 2012 presently on e bay,i have been in touch with the seller ,if i can move my busa in time i will be going for it,i will have to see were it goes on that one though!! typical of me chopping and changing, i am hopeless for buying things i want on impulse. i only have one problem with the 2012 zzr 1441,the clunk into first gear does my head in,but the rest of the ride makes up for it.
I've only just run my 1441 in and took it for it's first service at 603 miles a few days ago so not yet opened it up, been keeping it under 4,000 revs for the first 600 miles  will be taking it up to 5,000 revs till 800 miles, then 6,000 revs till 1,000 miles, then :sweatdrop: time  I'm not new to the zzr1400, had the df8 2008 model for 4 years and found that to be "bloody brillant" at everythink, coverd over 3,200 miles in 8 days around the french, swiz alps and italy and it toured as well as it handled the twisties  I've always regretted selling the zzr1400  don't get me wrong  the gtr1400 is a brillant bike and is more comfy than the zzr1400 on long journeys. but I personally think the gtr is not as much fun as the zzr, but thats only my opinion. if you like being propelled forward from 0 to 60 m.p.h in 2.5 seconds and 0 to 100 m.p.h in 5 seconds and 0 to 150 mp.h in 9 seconds and have a bloody big  on ya face then buy the zzr  if you tour alot with a pillion and prefer miles and miles of pure comfort with loads of luggage capacity and with enough power to put a  on ya face, then the gtr is your better option  here is a pic of my 1441 zzr after just fitting the R&G bobbins and the rear seat cowl and the zzr1400 engraved heel gaurds  and a few pic's of my df8 model in the french alps a few years ago with my mates 2008 hayabusa. also a pic of my new 2013 zzr and my mate's new 2012 hayabusa chrome.

Thank goodness I don't have a garage like OC .... otherwise .... I love Daves ZZR with those beautiful Akros ... it's simply stunning (IMHO) ... and then of course there is Winnys BM ...
Ps .. I quite like the look of my GREEN Gtr too. :mfr_lol:
I had the ZZR for about a year before getting the GTR. I had the Y2K busa for about 8 years before the ZZR. Think it will be a better comparison. My ex busa packed with punch with all the mods I did gradually over the years. The ZZR felt exactly the same punch if not more just by having the fuel increase with air flow and a pair of exhaust.
What I didn't like about the ZZR was the wheel base were too light for its power delivery. The busa did a better job in that aspect. Going for top speed feels more confident on the busa. Coming to the GTR, is a different ball game altogether. When I sold my busa, I thought it was time for me to slow down and regretted going for the ZZR. I mean it's good for rides and power delivery but lack of the comfort ride I wanted.
So it really voice down to what you are looking for. Power vs Comfort. When I mention comfort, it means not so much of power hunger and yet not lack of it when you just want to have a short blast. Just my own opinion if you may consider pondering. :biker3:

:mfr_lol: It can lead to expensive decisions, but I reckon we're "here for a good time not a long time" so you've got to enjoy it whilst you can
BTW Rusty I've sold off quite a few bikes and don't have much left in the Rev Shed these days
