Title: a few pics of todays ride out
Post by: 2kwacks on January 06, 2013, 04:40:23 PM
my bike is booked in for it's first service tomorow, so needed to get 300 miles in today to reach the 600 miles needed for it's first service, so me and my mate on his "one off" hayabusa gold.. set off this morning at 09.30 hrs and toured most of north wales, of course.. our first stop was breakfast at the ponderosa  it was a nice day, it was a bit misty on the horseshoe pass but the rest of northwales was quite a nice day  only took 3 pics because I was to busy riding :mfr_lol:

dont know what it is about hayabusa's . even though they have always had a bullet proof reputation i have always thought thm to be an ugly looking bike, after saying that i dont know if they have the kawasaki's warping disc, seizing adjusters and the other little niggles which kawaski's owners moanabout,i have had nothing but kawasaki's for the last four years. but gess what as i have always said i dont warrant spending 9 & 10 grands on a bike for the time i get to ride now, so i have sourced a 2010 1340 hayabusa in kent i am taking delivery of it on saturday, dont get me wrong i still like the kawaski's  but i am going to give the busa  a go ,i will let ou know what i think between the two, absolutely loved my last 1441 zzr the metallic green colour was absolutely stunning, but i could not stand the crunching into first gear,i always lowered my tickover speed on my previous zzr's and my gtr which really helped with the crunching but i couldn't do that on the latest zzr.hoping for some good weather for this year, but without question this is still the best forum of all.

The Hayabusa is plain fugly, especially with the seat hump.

Mind you the late 90's Suzuki GP bikes were the same ugly shape and it did them no harm!

they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder  I don't mind the look of the busa  now that very well may be because it's not half as butt-ugly as it's owner  and this is my ugly mates second busa and he swears by them. but as you know the busa is long over due a new model. suzuki may take the well known saying.. if it's not broke then don't fix it! remember kawasaki never changed the excellent zx7r from the first p1 model to the p7 model except for colour changes, but you know as well as I know that would be complete bollocks  because even the excellent zx7r lost out to the newer model suzuki 750 gxsr and even the 600 gsxr in there hey day's.. due to the zx7r old design and heavy bulk, I don't think suzuki reckons that there is enough hyper bike lovers out there to warrant spending money on re-designing a brand new hayabusa  instead they have given the same model busa a.b.s and brembo calipers and are are offering new colours, well there going to need to get there finger out if they want to be top again  that's for sure, because the new model zzr1400 is going to take some beating in looks, performance and coolness

yes you are right two kwacks,i dont know what has happened to me, i couldn't stand the look of the busa especially with that hump, but i seem to have grew a liking for them (but without the hump) i have been looking for a bike since i sold my 1441,just by chance a stumbled across a couple of busa's in the dealers.and they started to grow on me,then the trouble of getting the right bike at the right price ,this is why i have ended up in kent ,2010 2800 miles  on it ,i was lucky to get in first and give a deposit as quite a few people have been trying to buy it from the owner. they seem to sell better than the gtr and zzr ,all the other ones i went for had  sold straight away.but i will have to wait till saturday and see how i adjust,] to it.

keith.. make no mistake about it, the haybusa is a excellent machine and seem to hold their prices well, but I'm a kawasaki man through and through  but like I say to my mate.. if the zzr1400 hadn't been invented I would have at to settle for the second best  now that would be a shame :mfr_lol: because I don't do second best :nono:

p.s don't forget to post some pics of your busa when you get it. by the way...  my mate still has his other busa and his having trouble selling it  but unless your willing to sell cheap then it's the wrong time to sell.

mmmmmm, an interesting observation Dave.

Actually the Beezer will do about 50mpg, which considering that its now 52 years old aint that bad especially when compared to today's crop of modern machinery  It makes you wonder why manufacturers haven't improved mpg figures on today's bikes by all that much

As for the oil well it does drop a bit, but then so do my Triples.thankfully KHI seem to have got the GTR nice and dry, with not a drop to be seen anywhere  :mfr_lol:

The Beeza will do 50Mpg and produces 35Bhp.
The GTR does 50Mpg and produces 155Bhp.
That's progress for ya.  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

I'm all for classic bikes but please leave the rose tinted specs in the ditch.
They were mostly uncomfortable, unstable, underpowered and unreliable.
Whilst they have their attractions with very few exceptions they are really not that good.
This even holds for your beloved 70's strokers. The smaller ones were tolerable but the H2 is a foul handling beast that makes even the Z1 look benign and the Kettle didn't really handle all.
Those very few exceptions are now serious money, like the Vincents and Broughs.

Oh dear George....reach for the cabinet and take a couple of chill pills, and I don't possess any Rose tinted specs mate  :ohplease:

I know all too well about the relative merits and failings of today's machines when compared to those of yesteryear, I've been riding them for long enough, my response to Dave was in a light hearted manner and was in no way intended to rouse you from your sleepy hollow   :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

The question does remain though that with a few exceptions most 'bigger' modern bikes don't perhaps return the kind of fuel economy that would be expected.

If I had known the GTR was so fuel efficient earlier I would have changed long before. In fact it was the mpg told to me by dealers that put me off initially.

Again, virtues missed by the many but appreciated by the few!

now.. now ..! girls behave yourselves  it is only a bit of banter, I think the technology of modern motorcycles is as good as it going to get now for mass produced bikes  I love the seventies classics, the KH family and the RD family but to be honest, the power, handling, looks, brakes and reliability of modern day bikes leave the classics in the jurassic period  I remember my dad having a few B.S.A'S and a few enfields and there's one thing that is imprinted on my mind  which is, he allways used to leave a baking tray under the sump to catch the oil that dripped over night  he used to add oil as nearly as much as he added petrol  but Rog.. if you were to ask my dad what he would rather have! say a gtr or zzr or a B.S.A he would defo say the "latter" but he's also from the jurassic period  maybe your goodself and "64 ya know" and my old dad  should meet up  I'm sure the conversation between the three of you, would be most riveting :mfr_lol:

 my old fellow is much to old now to ride bikes, but he still drives his car.. or should I say! he tries. I was having a discussion with him about bike's at the time he had his B.S.A A7 500 think it was 1959 model, I remember riding it when I was 17 years old and it wasn't for the faint hearted, infact if I remember correctly it was a beast of a bike. anyway, at the time I had a rd400 and I had also just went up a few teeth on the rear sprocket it brought the top end down approx 10 m.p.h but it was bloody quick on acceleration, anyway.. we were discussing my rd400 and his relic 500 A7 and he reckoned that it would leave my rd400 standing. I would not ride his relic again, but I gave him a go of my rd400. well if you would have seen what I seen you would be on your back  ing till you were  ing I told him to take it easy and don't rev it like he did his relic but  he thought he knew best. well he rev it to about 5,000 r.p.m and let the clutch out  he took of like a bat out of hell and pulled one of the best wheelies have ever seen, anyone seeing that would have thought what a  old dude  but he was  :shit: ing himself and I was :sweatdrop: ing but did he  :surrender:  :nono: he blamed the bike and said.. your need your clutch adjusting there son, before it throws you off..!  :hammer:
